iOS 6 beta 4 adds Wi-Fi Plus Cellular data switching option

The latest beta of iOS 6 was released this week with a handful of changes. We've already mentioned a few of these differences like the new Bluetooth Sharing menu, and the missing YouTube app. But another one has been discovered.

In beta 4, a new option can be found deep in the Settings application, under the Cellular tab, called Wi-Fi Plus Cellular. When enabled, it allows apps that are having trouble with Wi-Fi to automatically switch over to cellular data...

Earlier today, Apple pushed out iOS 6 beta 4 to developers. It's the fourth update to Apple's latest mobile software, which is expected to become available to the public sometime in September.

Judging by the lengthy change log we've been reading through all morning, beta 4 is full of bug fixes and other improvements, and not much else. But we have noticed one notable change...

Apple seeds iOS 6 beta 4 to developers

Apple has seeded the fourth beta of its new iOS 6 software to developers this morning. The release comes just three weeks after the previous update.

As usual, the new beta is currently only available as an over-the-air update, but the full version should come up on the iOS developer center soon.

Those of you who have been around the jailbreak community for a while should be extremely familiar with biteSMS. The Messages app replacement has been around since the early days of iPhone hacking.

News aggregator Digg gets a makeover, new iPhone app

If you've been around the web for more than a couple of years, chances are you remember Digg. The news aggregation site made social sharing cool long before Facebook or Twitter hit their high notes.

But the last couple of years have been rough for Digg. After seeing a dramatic drop in page views, the site that was once in talks with Google over a $200 million buyout, sold for a measly $500 thousand to the folks at Betaworks.

Path 2.5 brings enhanced sharing, improved camera and more

The official Path iOS client received a major update last night, bringing the app to version 2.5. The update includes a number of changes, such as enhanced media sharing, an improved camera, and new photo editing tools.

Path 2.5 also includes another cool addition that might just persuade folks to join the social network. New users now have the option to import data from their Facebook, Instagram, and Foursquare accounts into Path...

Apple finally fixes buggy Podcasts app

A month ago Apple removed Podcasts section from iOS 6 storefronts and posted a dedicated new app to let folks download, consume and manage audio and video podcasts on the go.

Apart from its skeuomorphic design mimicking a vintage tape recorder, the program was plagued with unreliable performance, unexpected quits and generally a bunch of bugs. These issues are clearly reflected in abysmal iTunes ratings that at the time of this writing barely hovered over two and a half stars out of five.

Our own Jeff Benjamin noticed as much, observing in his video hands-on that the radio-dial interface is interesting at first sight, but not very efficient and syncing often doesn't work as intended. Today, Apple pushed out a minor update that promises to squash these pesky bugs while bringing out a couple of new nice-to-haves...
