Verizon’s New iPhone 4S Commerical Takes a Jab at AT&T’s Bad Coverage

Verizon has aired a new commercial that takes a playful jab at its main competitor, AT&T. Touting the iPhone 4S on its network, Verizon's ad shows a group of stranded boat passengers helplessly floating in the ocean.

They all have iPhones. One of the iPhones is on Verizon. We'll let you guess which one is able to actually make the call for help...

OpenNotifier Adds Custom Notifications to your iPhone’s Status Bar

I think the majority of people are in agreement that one of the key features that the iPhone has lacked over the years, and continues to lack, is a competent notification system.

Sure we have push notifications, but those can be incredibly disrupting and intrusive. Then there's the app icon badges, which serve their purpose, but can quickly litter your homescreen with a mess of little red icons.

What's a guy to do to get some good notifications around these parts? Jailbreak, of course.

LockDockBar is a free alternative to IntelliScreen

LockDockBar is an application that displays 4 icons on your locked screen: SMS, Calls, Emails, Calendar. The app displays the notification badges for each app so if for example you have a new email, you will see this notification next to the email icon. From there, instead of unlocking the phone and launching the mail app, you simply tap the mail icon from your lock screen and it takes you there directly.

I think it is a great and free alternative to Intelliscreen, and it works perfectly with Status Notifier.
