Apple gives employees t-shirt and credo print for the holidays

Apple this year is giving each of its retail employees a special edition t-shirt and credo printing gift for the holidays. MacRumors has photos of the presents, which show a gray t-shirt featuring a two-circle design made up of all of Apple's retail locations.

As for the credo, it's printed on what appears to be glossy, heavy paper and it even comes in a protective envelop. Apple introduced the 6-paragraph statement earlier this year, which starts off "we are here to enrich lives, to help dreamers become doers."

Watch an awesome six month iSpaceship construction time-lapse

YouTubers Matthew Roberts and Duncan Sinfield have been taking their drones to the skies above Apple Campus 2 site on a monthly basis to update us on construction work progress.

Still, nothing illustrates the breathtaking pace of development better than an expertly done time-lapse.

Your wish is Matthew's command: he's taken it upon himself to put together a jaw-dropping 4K drone time-lapse footage that shows just how much progress has been made on iSpaceship over the past six months.

Apple took no specific steps to improve MacBook Pro battery life with macOS Sierra 10.12.2

The macOS Sierra 10.12.2 software update, released three days ago, removes your Mac battery's time remaining indicator but owners of the new MacBook Pro won't see any improvements to their notebook's battery life as a result of the update.

As ArsTechnica noted, the company “told us repeatedly and emphatically that it had taken no specific steps to improve MacBook Pro battery life” with macOS Sierra 10.12.2.

Now, some people have reported seeing improved battery performance after installing the update on their MacBook Pro, but there's a reasonable explanation for that.

How to downgrade from iOS 10.2 to iOS 10.1.1 to prepare for a possible jailbreak

With the news of a possible upcoming jailbreak for iOS 10.1.1, the race is on for those who have already upgraded past it to downgrade before Apple closes the signing window on them and leaves them high and dry. This guide will walk you through how to return to iOS 10.1.1 from iOS 10.2 (or any other version you may be on, like iOS 9.3.3 or iOS 10.1) so that you will be safe and sound when the window closes, and can wait and see if this jailbreak hype comes true.

LG’s display division to start volume production of foldable displays for 2018 iPhones

LG's display-making arm is said to be gearing up to kick off volume production of foldable displays for future iPhones, said Korean news outlet ETNews. In addition to Apple, LG Display should supply foldable displays to Google and Microsoft in 2018. LG-developed foldable display prototypes were of sufficient quality for the company to secure global manufacturers as its partners.

Download Super Mario Run in the App Store right now

As promised, Super Mario Run, Nintendo's first real smartphone game, launched on the App Store today, December 15. The side-scrolling, auto-runner platformer is available free of charge with a non-compulsory $9.99 upgrade to unlock the game's three modes completely.

If you don't see the GET button quite yet, force refresh the App Store app, then simply tap on the Notify button in the App Store description of the game. Enter your password or use Touch ID when prompted, and the game will begin downloading. If that doesn't work, iDB editor Jim Gresham suggests force-quitting the App Store app, rebooting the device, launching the App Store app, and then download the game.

The anticipated title is optimized for one-handed play: as Mario automatically runs from left to right, you just tap the screen to make him jump. The longer you touch the screen, the higher he jumps. As with other Mario games, you'll be avoiding various obstacles and collecting coins along the way whilst attempting to get our hero safely through the level in the fastest time possible.

iOS 10.1.1 jailbreak could be released in the near future

Hot on the heels of this week's announcements about upcoming iOS 8.4.1 and iOS 9.3.x jailbreaks, there have been stirrings today which suggest we may also see our first iOS 10 jailbreak soon. It must be noted that these are at present just statements of intent rather than concrete, but that being said, they are more encouraging than most that we have seen lately, and in my tentative opinion will result in something being released sooner rather than later.

Jailbreaking news update: unexpected developments for iOS 8.4.1 and iOS 9.x

Whilst most are no doubt still eagerly awaiting a jailbreak for the just-released iOS 10.2, there are those who still have devices on various flavours of iOS 9 and older, who have fallen through the cracks of the most recent Pangu releases. For them, this week brought some hope, with two separate announcements of upcoming jailbreaking tools, in addition to the release of a browser-based tool from Luca Todesco. This round-up will cover the various pieces of jailbreak release news that came to light over the past few days.

Apple will charge you $69 to replace a lost AirPod

Apple will charge you $69 to replace a lost or broken AirPod, according to the company's iPhone Service Pricing support page. The wireless earbuds went on sale online earlier this week, and will be available in Apple Stores starting Monday.

It doesn't look like Apple will be offering its extended AppleCare warranty on the AirPods, so it has laid out a simple pricing table for what repairs and replacements will cost. Battery service, for example is $49 in the 1-year warranty, $69 out.

Instagram passes 600 million users

Aping Snapchat seems to have paid off in a major way for photo-sharing service Instagram as it announced passing a whopping 600 million users earlier today. The last hundred million Instagrammers joined the service in the past six months, said the Facebook-owned company.

Instagram infamously ripped off Snapchat Stories with its own Stories feature, which debuted in early-August.
