Kabam teases upcoming RPG ‘Star Wars Uprising’ for mobile

Star Wars fans have a lot to be excited about this year. There's, of course, the new movie 'The Force Awakens' that's coming out in December, and a handful of new console games are on the way. There's also apparently a new RPG coming to mobile devices.

Publisher Kablam has begun teasing its upcoming role-playing game, Star Wars Uprising, which will debut on various mobile platforms later this year. It will serve as a bridge, connecting the events of Return of the Jedi and this year's new Star Wars film.

Hitman: Sniper now available in App Store

Building on the success of Hitman Go, a $4.99 turn-based stealth strategy game which made its App Store debut in April 2014, developer Square Enix Montréal on Thursday released another iOS game focused on Agent 47.

Called Hitman: Sniper, the assassination game puts you in the shoes of a contract killer. It's set in Montenegro, a country in Southeastern Europe with a coast on the Adriatic Sea and bordered by my home country: Croatia.

Hitman: Sniper challenges you with multiple scenario-driven contracts on a hugely varied map that contains many targets and assignments.

Google’s new Hands Free app will let you pay in stores without even reaching for your phone

If you thought paying with Apple Pay is ridiculously easy and frictionless, think again. No, I'm not referring to Android Pay, Google's near exact replica of Apple Pay that was unveiled at Google I/O yesterday.

Quietly unveiled yesterday, Hands Free is a new Google mobile app currently unavailable to the general public that promises to let you make in-store purchases without ever reaching for that phone in your pocket.

Details are scarce at the moment but it seems that Hands Free requires you to just tell the cashier you’d like to pay with Google. It's basically Android Pay without taking your phone.

BitTorrent launches Bleep, secure peer-to-peer messaging app for iPhone and Mac

With ephemeral messaging growing in popularity, and given ongoing fear of government-sponsored snooping, small wonder that BitTorrent has now entered the market for secure chat apps — and in a pretty big way, too.

Bleep, their new Mac and iOS secure messaging and VoIP software, strives to ensure the privacy of your conversations by never saving them on your device or the servers. In a nutshell, Bleep uses encryption and peer-to-peer networking to establish a private, secure connection between devices.

With Bleep, you can whisper with friends on your Mac or iPhone and the messages will disappear after they are read.

Remember Snake from Nokia phones? It’s hitting iOS next Thursday as Snake Rewind!

Do you remember playing the old-school Snake from Nokia phones? First released in the late 1990s on the Nokia 6110, this innovative, all-consuming game with monochrome graphics and stupendously simple concept of not crashing the snake while trying to eat fruit is a testament of timeless design. Now Snake's original creator Taneli Armanto has teamed up with Rumilus Design to bring back the joy of the classic game in a modern take on Snake.

Titled Snake Rewind, the game is scheduled to hit iOS, Android and Windows Phone platforms globally on next Thursday, May 14, 2015.

Super Mario knockoff makes it into the App Store

We're not expecting this one to last long on the App Store so all you fans of retro gaming out there in search of a Super Mario Bros-like experience on your iPhone should act now before it's too late.

I'm old enough so you can trust me when I say that Super Bros! by Greek developer Papadakis Kostas (not to be confused with Greek pianist Konstantinos Papadakis) is the closest thing to the original game.

Somewhat incredibly, Super Bros! has managed to get past Apple's App Store review team and is available for download, for now. The $1.99 iPhone game is a total knockoff of the 1985 classic platform video game internally developed by Nintendo R&D4 and published by Nintendo as a pseudo-sequel to the 1983 game Mario Bros.
