It is almost redundant for me to begin another article expressing my love affair with quality iOS device stands, but, for the sake of tradition, allow my introduction sentence to lend credence to my lust. Bluelounge announced today, their newest product, the Mika, which is a simple stand for iPad, but strong enough to hold a full size MacBook. The state of Maine to share MacBook, iPad contract with other schools

The U.S. state of Maine plans to make available to other schools its contract for buying students MacBooks and iPads. Although the offer could provide some guidance for educational institutions, perhaps most eye-opening are the low prices state officials were able to get from an eager Steve Jobs. The contract - originally from 2000 - lets the state pay $217 for an iPad and $273 for a MacBook Air.

Although other states are unlikely to strike a similar bargain with Apple today, the Cupertino, California company has expressed interest in putting its iDevices on the desks of US students...

Apple refreshes MacBooks, slashes prices

Apple Wednesday morning announced it has refreshed Retina MacBook Pro and MacBook Air configurations with faster processors and lower price points. The 256GB 13-inch MacBook Pro with Retina display is now a $300 cheaper and has an upgraded processor and its entry-level 128GB counterpart now costs $200 less. Two 15-inch Retina MacBook Pros have also received a slight specs bump up. The MacBook Air is now a $100 cheaper. Full details right after the break...

BestBuy's Winter Doorbuster Days sale is resulting in some pretty amazing prices for the entire MacBook Air line. The Richfield, Minnesota based company has slashed the price of the MacBook Air by $200 across the board.

That means that you can score a brand new low-end 11.6" MacBook Air for a mere $799 before tax. Even when you look at refurbished options direct from Apple, that's the lowest price you'll find anywhere.

Like the left-over turkey that just won't disappear from the fridge, talk of a full-blown, Apple-branded HD television set - the mythical iTV - lingers on in the minds of Wall Street seers. The product could carry a price of $1,500 and $2,000 and be introduced in time for Christmas 2013, one analyst forecast Tuesday. The shiny television product launch would highlight a long list of new products for Apple fans of all stripes.

Although Apple's goal of offering à la carte TV programming is viewed as "unlikely," some of the features made popular on the iPhone and iPad could be headed to a big-screen TV set spanning between 42 and 55 inches, according to perhaps the most vocal iTV proponent out there, Gene Munster of Piper Jaffray...

Nope, Google’s $249 Chromebook totally didn’t rip off MacBook Air wholesale

I kinda like the concept of an Internet-only notebook which boots in a few seconds, is always on and runs smoothly. I wanted to like Google-branded Chromebooks and almost bought one before realizing that Apple has already ticked all the right boxes with its iPad computer. But if a portable computing device with a physical keyboard which runs a browser-based OS and runs only web apps is your thing, this new Chromebook surely will pique your interest.

Apart from being a total rip off of the MacBook Air down to its black rounded keys, trackpad and the recess right where the lid opens, know that this Chromebook is a quarter of the Air's asking price and half the iPad's. On paper, the machine is a must-have: it weighs in at only 2.43 pounds, is 0.8-inches thick, runs 6.5+ hours battery and rocks a 11.6-inch display at a 1,366-by-768 pixel resolution.

Per usual, there are some caveats that a flashy commercial (included below) fails to mention...

Next-gen MacBook could wirelessly charge 2013 iPhones, iPads

Chip giant Intel is working on a new technology for its 2013 Ultrabook portable platform that is said to incorporate wireless charging between notebooks and mobile devices, per a new report out of Asia based on sources from the upstream supply chain.

As MacBooks use Intel's chips, Apple could adopt this upcoming technology from Intel to enable wireless charging between future MacBooks and your iPhone, iPad or iPod touch...

Apple Store goes down ahead of WWDC keynote

That's it folks, the Apple Store has just gone offline ahead of today's WWDC keynote, which begins in a little bit more than two hours. Are you feeling the excitement yet?

As the big event approaches, possible specs of Apple's new MacBooks have leaked, indicating that MacBook Airs will come with 4GB/8GB RAM flavors and a 512GB SSD option. SSD in these new Airs should use SATA3 and some of them are said to be based on Samsung’s crazy fast 830 series.

New MacBook Pro and Mac Pros are also in the cards and the AirPort Express base station is said to be due for an upgrade as well...
