Geohot Has Another Untethered Exploit Up His Sleeve

A quick post about a tweet that MuscleNerd sent out a few hours ago explaining that Geohot has another untethered exploit up his sleeve but he didn't use it so he can save it up for a future iOS update.

This is pretty good news for all iPhone users as it seems no matter what happens when iOS 4.2 comes out, we'll most likely get a jailbreak pretty quickly. Now if only we could have an unlock...

Yet Another PwnageTool Teaser

Dev Team member MuscleNerd is teasing us again with a screenshot of PwnageTool jailbreak for iOS 4.1. Previously supposed to be released last Sunday, PwnageTool has obviously been postponed and we still don't have any idea of when it will be available.

PwnageTool is a jailbreaking tool that allows you to update your iPhone to the latest jailbroken software while preserving the baseband so you can unlock your iPhone. This upcoming version of PwnageTool will work with the iPhone 3G, 3GS and iPhone 4. It will also work with the iPod Touch 2G, 3G, and 4G. Additionally, it will jailbreak the iPad and the new Apple TV...

LimeRa1n vs GreenPois0n

In the battle of the jailbreak for iOS 4.1, we have 2 unique opponents: LimeRa1n vs GreenPois0n. LimeRa1n came first and kinda stole the show. GreenPois0n was released a few days later but was it already too late?

I am curious to see what you, iDB reader, used to jailbreak your iPhone. Did you wait for GreenPois0n or did you jump on the LimeRa1n bandwagon as soon as it got released. Please take a few seconds of your time to take this poll...

GreenPois0n Jailbreak for Mac Now Available for Download

After being released for Windows and Linux, GreenPois0n for Mac is now available for download. You can download GreenPois0n for Mac from the official website here.

Whether you're using the GreenPois0n jailbreak on a PC, Mac or Linux, the steps are exactly the same. Check out our GreenPois0n guide for more information.

Dev Team Confirms it Has Untethered Jailbreaks for All Future Firmwares

MuscleNerd confirmed on Twitter earlier today that the Dev Team has figured out a way to use LimeRa1n, GreenPois0n, and PwnageTool for all future firmwares of devices boasting an A4 chip.

Even better, all future jailbreaks for iOS devices with an A4 chip will be untethered. That's a good news for iPhone 4 owners, as well as Apple TV, iPad and iPod Touch 4G users...

Dev Teams Shows Off PwnageTool jailbreak for iPhone 4.1

Dev Team member MuscleNerd has recorded a video demon of their latest jailbreak for iOS 4.1 PwnageTool. The video showed an iPad being restored to a pre-jailbroken iOS 3.2.2.

PwnageTool is a jailbreak method that lets you update your iPhone to the latest iOS while preserving the baseband. This is particularly important if you're looking to unlock your iPhone as there are currently no unlock available for the latest basebands and there probably won't be at least until iOS 4.2 comes out in November...

Coolest iPhone Lockscreen Ever Just Got Even Cooler

Back in August, Sebastien posted about Typophone 4, a really awesome iPhone lockscreen for jailbroken iPhones, and I've been using it ever since.

Now there's a modified version created by a fan that includes weather info at the bottom, complete with hi-res images and forecasts. You can choose what cities you want to be able to select from, and you can toggle to view current conditions, today's forecast, and tomorrow's forecast. The data is pulled from Yahoo! weather.

The app comes with only 3 pre-set cities, and it's a little tricky to change to your own, as it requires using a SSH client. So here's a walkthrough:

How to Know if You Can Jailbreak and Unlock Your iPhone

I have an iPhone 4 with iOS 4.0.2 and baseband 01.59.00. Can I jailbreak? Can I unlock? I get asked this question about 20 times a day and to be honest with you, it's kinda getting old.

The good news is there is a tool available that will answer these specific questions. Just enter your device, model, iOS, and baseband version and it will tell you if you can jailbreak and unlock. Additionally, it will give you links to tools you can use to jailbreak and unlock...

Wi-Fi Sync is a $9.99 app in Cydia that syncs your iOS device over wi-fi with iTunes. You can read more about the app here.
