iOS 4.3.1 Causing WiFi Issues?

Hot off the heels of the new iOS 4.3.1 untethered jailbreak, there seems to be word going around that the jailbreak causes WiFi issues.

@i0n1c, the hacker who found the untethered kernel exploit for iOS 4.3.1 which the Dev Team intergrated into the RedSn0w jailbreak utility, clears up some confusion regarding the WiFi issues...

Jailbreak iPhone iOS 4.3.1

After much anticipation, the iOS 4.3.1 jailbreak was released early this morning, but I guess the actual time depends on where you live.

This is the first untethered jailbreak solution for iOS 4.3.1. There have been other jailbreaks for iOS 4.3.1 but they were tethered and had issues with stability.

Finally, we have a stable and working iOS 4.3.1 solution; actually we have many solutions, as you'll see below. Big thanks to @i0n1c for his untether, and the iPhone Dev Team for their hard work at making this a reality...

Jailbreak iPhone 4.3.1 with Sn0wBreeze [Tutorial]

iH8sn0w has updated his Windows jailbreak tool, called Sn0wBreeze, with the untethered jailbreak for iOS 4.3.1. Sn0wBreeze is now the third tool available for an untethered jailbreak on iOS 4.3.1 (alongside PwnageTool and RedSn0w).

Sn0wbreeze 2.5 is hardly different from its last beta, except that is uses i0n1c's untethered exploit. An added bonus is that the hidden multitouch gestures in iOS 4.3 are enabled with Sn0wBreeze. These gestures were unearthed a couple of months ago, and iH8sn0w has found a way to enable them in his latest jailbreak tool.

Sn0wBreeze is not recommended for those wishing to preserve their unlock. Again, Sn0wBreeze is Windows only.

Jailbreak iPhone 4.3.1 with RedSn0w [Tutorial]

After weeks of anticipation, the Dev Team released a jailbreak for iOS 4.3.1 tonight, thanks to iPhone hacker i0n1c. This jailbreak will work with iPhone 4G, iPhone 3GS, iPod Touch 4G, iPod Touch 3G, and the second generation of Apple TV.

In this step by step guide and tutorial, we will show you how to jailbreak your iPhone 4.3.1 using RedSn0w. RedSn0w is a jailbreak that works both for Mac and Windows. Unlike PwnageTool, RedSn0w updates your baseband, so this is probably your preferred jailbreak method if you don't rely on an unlock....

Jailbreak iPhone 4.3.1 with PwnageTool [Tutorial]

The Dev Team just released a jailbreak for iPhone iOS 4.3.1, compliments of hacker i0n1c. This jailbreak will work with the iPhone 4, iPhone 3GS, iPod Touch 4G, iPod Touch 3G, iPad 1, and Apple TV 2nd generation.

In this tutorial, we will show you how to use PwnageTool to jailbreak your iPhone 4.3.1 while preserving your baseband. PwnageTool is a Mac only tool and is the only way to preserve your baseband to make sure you can unlock later on...

Dev Team Releases Jailbreak for iOS 4.3.1

It's here, folks. After weeks of anticipation, the Dev Team just released an untethered jailbreak for iOS 4.3.1. This jailbreak is mostly due to the untether exploit found by i0n1c.

This jailbreak works with every device that supports iOS 4.3.1, except for the iPad 2. So to be clear, this jailbreak will work with the iPhone 4, iPhone 3GS, iPad 1, iPod Touch 4G, iPod Touch 3G, and the second generation of Apple TV...

Original iPad 4.3.1 Jailbreak to be Released Today

Those of you who have been waiting on a jailbreak for iOS 4.3, pay attention!  There was some major news in the community early this morning and it looks like the jailbreak we reported on yesterday could be released sooner than expected.

MuscleNerd was at it again this morning, tweeting details of the impending jailbreak announcement. The popular iPhone hacker claims that the Dev Team is looking to release the jailbreak today for Apple's new software. If you recall, there hasn't been an official hack released since Apple launched iOS 4.3 alongside their iPad 2.

After weeks of silence, it looks like the Dev Team is ready to drop the much anticipated software. It will become available for Mac users via Pwnage Tool and PC users via RedSn0w. For those who haven't used either title, they are very similar to GreenPois0n which we cover here. These programs make jailbreaking your iDevice as easy as plugging it into your computer, and following the onscreen directions.

Although it is looking like the software won't go live until late tonight, i0n1c has been telling the Twitter world that if the topic #sundayisfunday becomes trending, the Dev Team might be enticed to release the jailbreak early.

As a reminder, the jailbreak released today is only for devices running iOS 4.3.1 and excludes the iPad 2. MuscleNerd was kind enough to give those that await the iPad 2 jailbreak some info as well. Although the exploit works, he mentions, it isn't suitable for mass distribution yet.

Original iPad owners looking to jailbreak Apple's latest firmware, stay tuned. We will let you know when the software is available, as well provide you with an easy step by step tutorial to help you through it. Those of you with iPad 2s, keep checking back for the latest in the iPad 2 jailbreak story.

Jailbreakers to Become New Targets for Major Corporate Marketing?

Since its inception, there was a dark cloud hovering over the jailbreak scene. People feared legal ramifications from Apple for "hacking" their iDevices, similar to what GeoHot is involved in with Sony. That all changed last summer when the government made an announcement that jailbreaking was legal by U.S. law.

Here we are, almost a year after the official statement, and the community is as big as ever. Saurik, the mastermind behind Cydia, estimates that there are between 10-15 million jailbroken devices in the wild. ModMyi founder Kyle Matthews shared a few other interesting statistics this morning about the iDevice hacking community that should catch the attention of major marketing firms....

iOS 4.3.1 Untethered Jailbreak Will Be Released When #SundayIsFunday Trends on Twitter

Get your Twitter hats on folks, and start promoting #sundayisfunday!

Stefan Esser, the hacker who found the untethered exploit in iOS 4.3.1, says that, "Maybe that would make the dev-team release."

As we previously reported, Esser, who goes by i0n1c on Twitter, provided the untether to the DevTeam so that they could use it in the upcoming releases of RedSn0w and PwnageTool -- the jailbreak supports all devices capable of running iOS 4.3.1, except for the iPad 2...

New Apple TV2 4.3 Jailbreak Available Soon

While we have shown you how to jailbreak your Apple TV2 with Seas0nPass, there hasn't been an untethered solution available for the latest firmware. The tethered jailbreak requires you to connect your Apple TV2 to your computer every time it restarts.

Well good news to all of you folks who have been waiting to jailbreak your second edition Apple TVs on iOS 4.3, for real. The latest news in the iDevice community is that an official jailbreak is near from the famous Dev Team. This will work for the iPhone, the original iPad, and it looks like the Apple TV2.

Expert iDevice hacker MuscleNerd shared the good news yesterday via Twitter that the ATV2 was covered in the latest jailbreak. He also gives nods to Saurik and NitoTV for helping finish the Apple TV2 exploit.

For those not familiar with the names, Saurik is extremely popular on the jailbreaking scene thanks to all of his work on Cydia. NitoTV is jailbroken software for Apple TV. It serves as an advanced media player and the front end for several plugins.

If you want to take advantage of the new features in iOS 4.3, but you also like having your Apple TV jailbroken, stay tuned. We will keep you up to date on the latest Apple TV2 jailbreak news.

The Dev Team's 4.3.1 Jailbreak Doesn't Work With iPad 2

If you just recently got an iPad 2 and are wondering if there is a jailbreak available, there isn't. The iOS 4.3.1 jailbreak that is so close to being released by the Dev Team, will not work on Apple's new tablet. Those who were looking forward to hacking their new gadgets will have to wait a little longer.

A series of tweets from known iDevice hacker MuscleNerd yesterday helped shine some light on the current status of the iOS 4.3 jailbreak. He hinted that the 4.3.1 jailbreak by the Dev Team, popular iDevice hackers, will be released sometime in the near future.

It will likely be distributed via RedSn0w and Pwnage Tool, and should work fine for iOS 4.3.1 on the original iPad. Although MuscleNerd claimed the RedSn0w-bound exploit would't work on Apple's latest tablet, he did mention that Comex has found another solution that does.

For those who weren't aware, Comex had a jailbreak for 4.3 almost ready to go, and then Apple dropped iOS 4.3.1 last week. This update magically patched the hole that Comex was using for his hack, forcing him back to the drawing board.

Comex's new exploit is based on the same one he used for Jailbreak Me, so hopefully iPad 2 owners get the benefit of a Userland jailbreak. This method is the easiest by far from a user's perspective, as it just requires them to navigate to a website in Safari. Other jailbreak techniques require additional software and multistep processes.

The bottom line is that an official jailbreak for the iPad 2 is imminent, we just aren't sure of when that will be. As always we will keep you updated on the latest iPad and iPad 2 jailbreak news.
