Jailbreak Tweak Claims to Improve iDevice Network Throughput Speeds

Italian iDevice blog, iPhoneItalia, pointed to a new Cydia tweak this morning. After some handy Google Translating work, it appears that TCP optimizer is aimed at improving network throughput speeds.

This would improve performance of YouTube and other applications. Although I don't have any beef with the way YouTube is currently running, any tweak that advertises noticeable speed improvements is worth a shot...

RecognizeMe Now Available for Jailbroken iPhone

Yesterday we told you about RecognizeMe, a jailbreak app that lets you use facial recognition to unlock your iPhone. Instead of using a password you can have your face scanned for verification.

RecognizeMe is now available on Cydia for $6.99 via the BigBoss repo. It's undoubtedly one of the coolest jailbreak apps out there, but is it really worth it to spend 10 waiting for your face to be scanned when you could unlock your phone is just about a second?

‘ShareApp’ Makes it Much Easier to Share Your Favorite App Store Apps

Have you ever stumbled upon an App Store app that was just so useful that you wanted to share it with the world?

Apple's figured as much, that's why they've included a "Tell a Friend" button at the bottom of every page for each app in the App Store.

Unfortunately that button often goes overlooked because it's still stuck in the 90's (it only does email).

As usual, a new tweak comes through to save the day; it's called ShareApp, a free jailbreak tweak available on Cydia, and it makes it easy to share your favorite App Store finds via Twitter...

RecognizeMe Allows for Biometric Facial Recognition on a Jailbroken iPhone

In case you needed one more reason to jailbreak your iPhone, try this on for size: biometric facial recognition. Instead of unlocking your iPhone with a simple password (How boring is that?), you can use the iPhone 4's front-facing camera to scan and recognize your face.

RecognizeMe is a new jailbreak app that helps make your iPhone safe from shady characters and potential homescreen peekers. By matching your face to a pre-defined database, RecognizeMe will unlock your iPhone and give you access to your device.

Action Menu Updated to Support iOS 4.3

If you've been holding off updating to iOS 4.3.x because of the lack of support for some of your favorite jailbreak tweaks and apps, I can understand your position. While I love iOS updates that include tons of bug fixes and new features, I usually don't upgrade right away due to compatibly issues with jailbreak apps and tweaks I couldn't live without on my iPhone.

With that said, if one of those jailbreak tweaks include Action Menu by Ryan Petrich, you'll be glad to know it's finally been updated for iOS 4.3+ support...

PictureMe Adds Timer and Rapid Shot Functions to Your iPhone Camera

While the stock Camera.app in iOS lacks many basic functions, applications in the App Store and Cydia usually do a good job of filling in for the missing features.

There are apps that allow you to take panoramic photographs and there are even apps that will automatically stamp your pics with the time and date. Well, word on the street is that another tweak is on its way to Cydia, and it's bringing some interesting photo-taking features to the stock Camera app...

Customize Your Emails With Rich Text for Mail

Another day, another reason to jailbreak your iPhone and customize it to the fullest. The latest jailbreak tweak is called Rich Text for Mail by well-known iOS developer Ryan Petrich (@rpetrich).

Rich Text for Mail enables you to compose and reply to emails using custom fonts, colors and styles. That includes adding format, bold, italic, strikethrough, underline and image items to Action Menu. The app works in conjunction with Action Menu, so there are no additional buttons or apps added. Best of all, it adds all these customization tools to the stock iPhone Mail app...

PhotoAlbums+ Gets an Update, Still the Best Photo Management App for iPhone

I don't know about your guys, but I'm kinda ticked we can't create photo albums on the fly on our iPhone or iPad. Thankfully, the jailbreak community is once again taking over where Apple slacked. We've already covered PhotoAlbums+, a jailbreak app that allows you to create albums and move pictures from/to these albums, directly from your iPhone, without the need of iTunes.

PhotoAlbums+ just got an update, and while it doesn't bring anything really new to the table, I felt like talking about this app again because it deserves publicity...

Stampr, a New Jailbreak Tweak That Timestamps Your Photos for You

For those who haven't heard the news yet, the iPhone isn't just a popular smart phone, it's also a popular camera. In fact, studies show that Apple's smartphone is among the most-used point and shoot cameras in the world.

If you too love your iPhone camera, but find yourself missing your old 32mm, Cydia has a tweak for you. Stampr gives your iPhone photos a touch of nostalgia by adding the time and date stamp to the bottom of each snapshot...

Cydia Tweak Alerts You When Your iPhone is Fully Charged

Jailbreak tweaks are a dime a dozen these days. There seems to be one of these iOS extensions for nearly everything, from uploading photos to Facebook to sharing your music on Twitter.

And in case you needed an app to give you a heads up when your iPhone battery is completely charged, Cydia has you covered there too. Full Charge Alert is a tiny tweak in the jailbroken App Store and I'll give you 3 guesses what it does...

TinyUmbrella Updated to Support 4.3.3 and iOS 4.2.8

If you've been jailbreaking for a while, you're probably an expert in saving your SHSH blobs. The task is fairly simple and enables you to downgrade to a working firmware, if you ever upgrade and things go wrong.

While many consider the cost of an iPhone expensive, the freedom to make it yours is priceless. If you recently updated to iOS 4.3.3, you're certainly going to want to make sure and backup your SHSH blobs...

DeleteMail Tweak Makes Clearing out Your Inbox Easy

The iOS Mail app is fairly straightforward. It houses all the basic functions of a standard email client, along with some nifty Exchange options. However, there is certainly room for improvement.

One of the main features missing is the ability to delete multiple emails quickly. If you have 1 or more inboxes that sees 100+ emails daily, you know what a pain it is to go through and select each message one at a time to delete them. Luckily, Cydia now has a tweak for that...
