CoolStar updates APT, DPKG, and GNU for iOS 11, Cydia coming in future Electra beta

Electra quickly became one of the most popular ways to jailbreak iOS 11.0-.11.1.2, and while it hasn’t included Cydia since its initial release, that could all change very soon.

The primary reason we haven’t had Cydia on iOS 11 as of yet is that both it and its dependencies haven’t been updated to work on Apple’s latest operating system. On the other hand, CoolStar made significant strides in the right direction this week after upgrading APT, DPKG, and GNU with iOS 11 support.

CPDigitalDarkroom to make all his paid jailbreak tweaks free and open source

Veteran jailbreak tweak developer Carlos Perez, more colloquially known to the jailbreak community as CPDigitalDarkroom, made a substantial announcement via Twitter on Monday that he would make all of his paid jailbreak tweaks free and open source.

In a big thank you to the community for its support over the years, Perez also noted how making all his projects free and open source wasn’t a sign of his departure from jailbreaking. Instead, it was an attempt to inspire a new generation of jailbreak tweak developers.

Jailbreak tweaks of the week: Marina, MoreLinesNotifications, and more…

With jailbreak tools under development for both iOS 10.3-10.3.3 and iOS 11.0-11.1.2, it’s tough to discern where users should be for the best experience possible these days. Nevertheless, developers continue to release new jailbreak tweaks despite the erratic state of the community.

In this roundup, we’ll talk about all the new jailbreak tweaks released throughout the week. As usual, we’ll kick things off by showcasing our favorites and then outline the rest afterward.

Last Drops 10 lets you bypass your iPhone’s auto-shutdown at critical battery levels

Apple pre-configures iPhones to automatically shut down when the battery level dips below a certain percentage, but many users find this feature more interruptive and bothersome than It’s worth.

With a new free jailbreak tweak called Last Drops 10 by iOS developer Ilia Kambarov, you can make use of every ounce of power stored in your battery; even during those critical moments when your battery hovers around ~1%.

See more incoming notification content at a glance with MoreLinesNotifications

Whenever you receive long text messages or emails, iOS automatically limits the amount of text that displays inside of your incoming notifications. In most cases, this means unlocking your device to read the entire message rather than reading it from the Lock screen notification preview.

A new free jailbreak tweak called MoreLinesNotifications by iOS developer CydiaGeek tries to solve this problem by maximizing the amount of text that each incoming notification displays.

CoolStar launches a tenth beta of the Electra jailbreak tool for iOS 11.0-11.1.2

On Wednesday, CoolStar released the tenth beta of his Electra jailbreak tool for iOS 11.0-11.1.2. The new release incorporates a bevy of bug fixes with the intention of making the experience more stable for everyone.

Electra still doesn’t install Cydia because Saurik hasn’t updated it for iOS 11 just yet, but users can take advantage of SSH connectivity to install tweaks and extensions for personal enjoyment.

Customize the look and feel of your Dock with Marina

Customizing the application Dock has always been a favorite past-time for jailbreakers, and a new free tweak dubbed Marina by iOS developer CydiaGeek takes that notion into consideration.

Out of the box, Marina lets you customize the number of apps in your Dock and change how it displays on your Home Screen. Imbued with these abilities, you can make your dock both more functional and better-looking than it would be on a stock device.
