Unc0ver jailbreak receives several updates with bug fixes and improvements

It was only yesterday that we saw the release of the unc0ver jailbreak tool for iOS 11.0-11.4 beta 3. But overnight, unc0ver received a plethora of updates encompassing bug fixes and improvements that may seem pertinent to users.

As of this writing, unc0ver RC6 (release candidate 6) is the latest release. That said, there’ve been at least five updates to the unc0ver jailbreak tool since its initial unveiling.

In this roundup, we’ll showcase all the jailbreak tweaks released in Cydia from Monday, October 8th to Sunday, October 14th. As usual, we’ll kick things off by discussing our favorite releases in detail first and then outline the rest of them afterward.

Unc0ver open-source jailbreak tool released with support for iOS 11.0-11.4 beta 3

For the last several months, anyone with an interest in jailbreaking iOS 11 had no other option besides Electra for iOS 11.0-11.3.1. But as of this weekend, things are changing.

On Sunday, former Electra Team member Pwn20wnd announced the release of a new open-source semi-untethered jailbreak tool dubbed unc0ver, and it’s being billed “the most advanced jailbreak tool.” Moreover, enc0ver is cited as being a joint effort between Pwn20wnd and hacker Sam Bingner, with the UI having been designed by Dennis Bednarz and Samg_is_a_Ninja.

Better3DMenus lets you customize your 3D Touch menus

Most modern iPhones support 3D Touch, a means of pressing firmly on your display to reveal additional options or features at a glance. Using a 3D Touch gesture on a Home screen app icon exposes a bevy of shortcuts for that specific app.

As useful as these 3D Touch menus can be, Apple doesn’t let you customize their appearance out of the box. Fortunately, a new free jailbreak tweak called Better3DMenus by iOS developer dpkg_ picks up the slack.

Customize your iPhone’s locking & unlocking animations with Amour

One of our favorite parts of jailbreaking is that you can customize the locking and unlocking animations of your handset. We haven’t seen a jailbreak tweak of this nature for quite some time, but iOS developer Luke Muris is changing that with a new release called Amour.

Once installed, Amour allows you to customize both the locking and unlocking animations of your jailbroken iPhone or iPad. You’ll discover a preference pane in the Settings app where you can configure the tweak however you like:

Apple will launch a $40 clear case for iPhone XR

Buried in the Sept. 12 Canadian press release announcing the iPhone XR is text mentioning that Apple plans on releasing a CA$55 (US$40) clear case for the new handset. This nugget of information was discovered recently by a Twitter user, aptly named ivanincanada (via AppleInsider).
