iOS 10 tidbit: sending fireballs via Digital Touch

The Digital Touch interface made its debut on the Apple Watch in April 2015. With iOS 10, Apple is bringing Digital Touch features to the Messages app and it does so much more than its wrist counterpart was capable of at launch.

With Digital Touch, you can doodle over live video, adorn your messages with animated kisses, digital taps and auto-dissapearing drawings and even send animated hearts and broken hearts to other people.

Today, we're taking a closer look at another nifty feature in iOS 10 Messages: the ability to express your angst or anger by shooting virtual fireballs at your recipient(s).

Instagram is rolling out Stories—Snapchat-like auto-dissapearing slideshows

Snapchat has Stories and now Instagram announced a similar feature of its own, called—wait for it—Stories. Basically a slideshow format designed for sharing multiple photos and videos, Stories appear on user profiles and, similar to ephemeral messaging services, automatically disappear 24 hours after being posted on the service.

This cool new feature will be rolling out globally over the next few weeks on the mobile Instagram app for iOS and Android.

New ad positions iPad Pro as a computer replacement

Apple on Monday released a new commercial for its iPad Pro line. Titled "What's a Computer," the ad spotlights the firm's latest and most powerful tablet, showing off various productivity and multitasking features that one might desire from a PC.

This isn't the first time Apple has suggested that the iPad Pro is powerful enough to replace your computer or laptop, but it is the first time it has done so blatantly in an ad. It's so flagrant, in fact, that it almost has a Microsoft Surface feeling to it.

All-new Apple TV Remote app with Siri and tilt gaming support hits the App Store

The new Apple TV Remote app with Siri features and support for controlling games on the fourth-generation Apple TV via tilt controls on your iPhone is now available for download on the App Store. Formally announced at WWDC in June 2016, the app used to be available as a developer-only preview, but now everyone can download it from the App Store. The new app doesn't replace the old one, which is still available on the App Store.

Both apps support the second, third and fourth-generation Apple TV, but only the new one packs in full support for Siri and tilt-based gaming on the new Apple TV.

Apple seeds fourth beta of iOS 10, watchOS 3, tvOS 10 and macOS Sierra to developers

The public beta of iOS 10 and macOS Sierra matching the latest developer-only releases should be released tomorrow to public beta testers enrolled with the Apple Beta Software Program.

Apple Maps Transit directions launch in Prague

Square Enix releases Cosmos Rings, unique role-playing game for Apple Watch

Japanese developer Square Enix last evening released a cool new role-playing game for the Apple Watch—titled Cosmos Rings—featuring nostalgia-evoking visuals, simple touch screen controls and intuitive gameplay. Cosmos Rings has automatic battles supplemented by the Active Chain Skill (A.C.S.) system, allowing players to unleash powerful skill combinations. With visuals by Final Fantasy series art director Yusuke Naora, Cosmos Rings immerses you in “a mysterious realm where they must face a whirlwind of pathos in an effort to bring back the Goddess of Time.”

New Apple Store app in the works with ‘For You’ recommendations

Apple is currently working on a redesigned version of its Apple Store mobile app with new recommendation features, reports Bloomberg. Citing sources familiar with the project, the outlet says the updated app could be rolled out in the next two weeks.

At the heart of the refresh is expected to be a "For You" tab, that will suggest products based on prior orders—similar to what Amazon.com does with its recommendations. So after buying an iPhone, the app could recommend cases and other accessories.
