Apple reportedly orders 68 million iPhone 6 units ahead of launch this Fall

Apple is apparently so confident that the iPhone 6 will be its fastest-selling handset that it's reportedly ordered a massive 68 million iPhone 6 units ahead of the Fall launch.

According to Chinese media reports, Apple is expecting high demand for the handset. It's not just the case of pent-up demand, however.

Provided rumors are true, this Fall will bring the first iPhablet in the form of a 5.5-inch iPhone 6, a popular form factor that should help bring customer who have switched over to Samsung back into the fold...

Questionable report revives iPhone haptics rumor

Since the original iPhone's inception, Apple's been expected to add haptic feedback technology to its iconic smartphone. This hasn't happened to this date, despite several Apple patent filings related to an enhanced haptic feedback on mobile devices.

A new Chinese rumor has been making rounds on the web Thursday, reviving the old-standing rumor which calls for an iPhone with haptic feedback.

According to sources, the next iPhone(s) will incorporate tactile feedback in order to augment the sense of touch with subtle vibrations when virtual keys are pressed...

Apple Design Award-winning games Blek, Monument Valley and Threes on sale

Good news gamers! It appears that there are multiple sales going on right now for iOS games that won an Apple Design Award this summer. Blek, Monument Valley and Threes! have all been discounted for a limited time.

For those unfamiliar with the titles, Blek is an addictive title that sees players draw paths to hit objects without crashing. Monument Valley is an Escher-inspired puzzle game, and I believe most folks have heard of Threes!.

New photos and video show alleged rear shell of 4.7-inch iPhone 6

Several new hi-res photos, and a video, surfaced this morning of what is said to be an actual rear shell of the 4.7-inch iPhone 6. The part looks similar to previous leaks, with a cutout Apple logo and thick antenna breaks at the top and bottom.

The photos come from Feld & Volk, a Moscow-based company that sells modified versions of the iPhone. The firm says it came across the shell thanks to its relationship with Apple suppliers, which enables it to get a head start on modifying...

New report says Foxconn’s robots will play more of a supporting role in factories

Earlier this week, word got out that Foxconn is preparing to deploy sophisticated robots to help assemble devices in its factories. The so-called 'Foxbots' have been in testing for years now, and CEO Terry Gou says the first units will help manufacture Apple’s iPhones.

Today, a new report is out from Taiwan's United Daily News that offers up new details on the program. According to the outlet, the robots will play more of a supporting role initially. Foxconn employees will still be responsible for general assembly and quality control...

Apple’s second secret eBay store goes live with pre-owned iPhones

Back in November 2012, a secret mini-store popped up on eBay with officially certified, little-used Apple products, similar to those found on the company's own refurbished section at the Online Apple Store.

However, since selling through the initial allotment of good-as-new gear the Apple Certified Refurbished Products section on eBay has seen little activity in terms of deals on iPhones, iPad, MacBooks and other products.

Today, Apple reportedly launched a brand new secret store - again on eBay, but this time around offering certified and unlocked GSM iPhone 5 units, with prices starting at $449 with free shipping...

Leaked SIM card tray indicates iPhone 6 will be available in Space Grey, Silver and Gold

If a claimed iPhone 6 SIM card tray is anything to go by, Apple's upcoming handset(s) will be offered in Space Grey, Silver and Gold finishes, just like the current iPhone 5s lineup. Sources on Tuesday posted new images that seemingly depict claimed iPhone 6 SIM card trays in three color options as well as purported power and volume flex cables.

For what it's worth, the layout of the power/volume flex cables matches up nicely with previous reports and leaks suggesting the sleep/wake button will be relocated to the side in order to make it easier to wake a 4.7 and 5.5-inch handset from sleep with one hand...

Readdle updates Documents with background music, e-book reader, iPhone add-ons and more

Back in February, Ukrainian developer Readdle gave its Documents for iOS app a thorough makeover, adding features like a much polished iPad interface with iOS 7-friendly styling, in-app integration with other Readdle apps, a brand new file manager and much more.

Available today, the free Readdle Documents 5.1 download expands on the app's features set with further improvements.

Foursquare refreshes Swarm with better check-ins, easier sharing and other enhancements

Foursquare, the popular location-based social networking service, back in May took all the gamified features out of its main iOS client - the mayorships, check-ins, leaderboards, achievements and what not - and created a new app around them, Swarm. As a result, the main Foursquare app is now focused on place discovery , not the check-ins.

The lightweight Swarm app makes it easy to see who’s out nearby, who’s doing what, who wants to hang out later and more. Today, the app has received a refresh bringing out several new features.
