evasi0n updated to improve boot-up time of jailbroken devices

A few hours ago we reported that the evasi0n untether package available in Cydia had been updated to version 0.4, fixing some problems a few users experienced during the boot-up of their device.

Just like the companion Cydia package, the desktop version of the evasi0n jailbreak has been updated to improve the boot-up time of some iOS devices jailbroken with the tool...

Evad3rs release evasi0n 1.4 with support for iOS 6.1.2

Earlier today, Apple released iOS 6.1.2, its second mobile OS release in as many weeks. The update includes two high priority bug fixes: one for the Exchange calendar issue that's been hurting performance, and one for the passcode glitch.

But luckily, 6.1.2 doesn't fix the exploits used in evasi0n. Earlier today, planetbeing told us it'd only be a matter of time before the jailbreak utility was updated to support the new firmware. And well my friends, that time has come...

Planetbeing talks favorite tweaks, food and more in Reddit thread

An interesting thread popped up on Reddit today in r/jailbreak. What started out as an AMA request (that's a request for a person or group to participate in an 'Ask me anything' thread) for the evad3rs, turned into a pretty candid Q&A session with planetbeing.

Typically when an AMA request is filled, the subject(s) comes back at a later time to answer user-submitted questions. But being the nice guy that he is, after noticing the thread, planetbeing hopped on and said he'd be happy to answer any questions. And boy did he...

Evad3rs to present at HITBSecConf2013 in Amsterdam

The evad3rs are probably one of the hottest tickets around right now on the mobile security circuit. The four hackers were able to overcome Apple's highly regarded security systems in iOS 6, to provide us with the evasi0n jailbreak.

Well good news for those of you that will be in Amsterdam between the dates of April 8 - 11. The team will be giving a presentation at the Hack in the Box Security Conference in the country, at the Okura Hotel. More details after the fold...

Evasi0n 1.2 is out, disables OTA updates and fixes timezone bug

The evad3rs have sure been busy this week. On Monday they released version 1.0 of their jailbreak utility, and on Wednesday they rolled out version 1.1 with fixes for the Weather app and long reboot bugs.

Today, they've posted a second update to evasi0n, bringing it to version 1.2. The new update features built-in code to disable future OTA updates on your jailbroken device, and a fix for the timezone issue...

Hackers still have exploits for use in future jailbreaks

On Wednesday, Apple seeded the first beta of iOS 6.1.1 to developers. It came just a few days after evasi0n was released to the public, so it was widely assumed that it had something to do with patching the new jailbreak.

Pod2g has since squashed the theory, at least for now, reporting that the beta doesn't mess with any of their exploits. But as it turns out, it wouldn't matter if it did, because the evad3rs still have several of them in reserve...

Evasi0n 1.1 released with fixes for Weather and long reboot bugs

Earlier today, the evad3rs uploaded two new packages to Cydia that were built to fix a few bugs found in the latest jailbreak: one that caused the Weather app to crash, and another that caused longer reboot times.

This afternoon, the team has released an update to evasi0n, bringing the utility to version 1.1. And as expected, it includes these bug fixes, so users should no longer encounter them when jailbreaking their devices...

How to easily fix the Weather app after jailbreaking with evasi0n

Some of you who used evasi0n to jailbreak their iPhone earlier this week might have encountered an issue where the Weather app would just crash at launch. The evad3rs were quick to identify the issue, and yesterday, they released a "manual" solution to fix the problem.

This fix, which we detailed and explained, required a bit of code manipulation, and was not really the easiest way to go at it. Fortunately, the evad3rs have now released and update that can be downloaded right from Cydia...

Planetbeing reveals some of the complicated hacks used in evasi0n

This week's evasi0n release has garnered a lot of attention over the past two days—and not just from folks who intend on jailbreaking. Sites like CBS and DaringFireball, who don't normally cover the jailbreak scene, are running multiple stories on the hack.

The consensus seems to be that folks are just genuinely flat-out impressed with the technical aspects of evasi0n, and the team behind it. And for good reason too. Check out this Forbes interview with planetbeing, where he talks in-depth about the jailbreak...

If you used evasi0n to jailbreak your iOS device, please consider making a donation

I usually put my money where my mouth is, and in this case, it means making a donation to the people who made it possible for me to run some of my favorite jailbreak tweaks again on my iPhone.

If like me you can't get the most out of your iOS device without a jailbreak, then you should consider making a donation too. Anything helps, whether it is a few cents or a few dollars...

How to jailbreak iOS 6 using evasi0n [Mac tutorial]

As we just told you, the evad3rs have released their jailbreak tool called evasi0n, and it allows you to easily jailbreak iOS 6. As we always do, we’ve created an easy to use written and video walkthrough to show you how to jailbreak iOS 6 on your iPhones, iPads, and iPod touches.

The good news is that evasi0n works with all flavors of iOS 6. That includes iOS 6.0, iOS 6.0.1, iOS 6.0.2, and of course, iOS 6.1. The evad3rs have worked hard to create easy to use tools, which allow you to jailbreak iOS 6 using Mac OS X, Windows, and even Linux.

We have personally confirmed that this tutorial works on every iOS 6 compatible device outside of the Apple TV 2 and Apple TV 3. This includes the iPhone 5, iPhone 4S, iPhone 4, iPhone 3GS, iPad 2, iPad 3, iPad 4, iPad mini, iPod touch 4G, and iPod touch 5G.
