It's here, folks. iOS 4.1 for iPhone is available for download. The iOS 4.1 software update is the first major update to iOS 4, bringing Game Center, new iTunes features, high dynamic range photography, and more to the iPhone.

This is some interesting data shared by Asymco that shows we are downloading apps much faster than we download music on iTunes. As a point of comparison, it took the App Store 2.2 years to be where iTunes was after 5 years. In other words, the App Store is hugely gigantic.
More interesting is that Asymco foresees App Store downloads will pass iTunes downloads by the end of the year. So why is the App Store so popular?

You've been waiting for it. We've been bitching about it, but it's here! MMS for iPhone is available for download from iTunes as a "carrier update".
Open iTunes, plug your iPhone in and you should have a message saying that a carrier update is available for download.
As I wrote yesterday, I don't think this carrier update can mess up your jailbreak but it might kill your tethering hack if you activated it.
Now the big question is whether AT&T's network will be strong enough to handle all these MMS that are going to be sent.
Personally, I couldn't care less about MMS but I know many of you are anxious to send and receive picture messages.

Update: It seems you have to be on OS 3.1 to be able to download the carrier update. Yet another sneaky move from Apple. Oh well...
The new iPhone 3.0 firmware update is available for download through iTunes. To get it, simply plug in your iPhone into iTunes and click "check for updates".
