CydiaBulletin: Receive Notifications When Cydia Apps Are Updated

Wouldn't it be super swell if you could receive a notification directly in Notification Center when your favoirite jailbreak app or tweak received an update?

Apparently jailbreak developer Ryan Petrich thinks so too. Hence, he has started working on a Notification Center tweak aptly entitled (tentatively at least) CydiaBulletin.

Thankfully, it looks like the days of furiously refreshing Cydia are numbered...

CDevReporter Jailbreak Tweak Automatically Sends iOS Crash Reports to Chronic Dev Team

Several weeks ago we told you about the Chronic Dev Team's Crash Reporter desktop tool. Jailbreakers can download and install the package to redirect iOS crash reports from iTunes to the Chronic Dev Team hackers. The reports are then used to find exploits and help further jailbreak research.

A new Cydia tweak has surfaced that automatically sends crash reports to the Chronic Dev Team from your iOS device. CDevReporter is available for free can be installed on any jailbroken iOS device today.

MobileSubstrate Updated to Fix Cydia Tweak Crashes on iOS 5.0.1 Untether

Jay Freeman (known as saurik) has pushed an update for MobileSubstrate that addresses the crashing of jailbreak tweaks from Cydia on the iOS 5.0.1 untether. Coincidentally, RedSn0w was updated this morning with a fix for MobileSubstrate crash errors as well.

Users that are jailbroken on iOS 5.0.1 can install version 0.9.3955 of MobileSubstrate now in Cydia to fix tweak crashes. Another huge perk is that MobileSubstrate no longer requires that you reboot iOS every time you install or upgrade the package.

Cydia Might Be Slow or Unresponsive, But It’s OK

If you've been trying to use Cydia for the last day, you might have noticed that it is slow, sluggish, or even unresponsive. Before you start thinking that your iPhone may be the cause of the problem, relax and don't freak out, because it's not.

Since the release of the iOS 5.0.1 untethered jailbreak yesterday, potentially hundreds of thousands of people have been jailbreaking, launching, and refreshing Cydia sources in the same short period of time, resulting in server overloads for many repos...

Corona iOS 5.0.1 Untethered Jailbreak Updated to Fix “Launchctl” Error

If you own an A4 device, chances are you spent your day jailbreaking. After months of waiting on a proper iOS 5 exploit, both the Chronic and iPhone Dev teams released untethered jailbreaks late last night.

There have been reports, however, of folks having some problems with the new untethers. One issue in particular, a "launchctl" error, has been fairly common. So Saurik has pushed out an update for the untether to fix it...

How to Get the Untethered Jailbreak Using Corona Untether 5.0.1

After weeks of anticipation, the iOS 5.0.1 untethered jailbreak is finally here, compliments of pod2g, the Chronic Dev Team, and the Dev Team. As we explained a little earlier today, you currently have two ways to untether.

Depending on your situation, you can either run the latest version of RedSn0w, or if you're already jailbroken, you can use the Cydia package called Corona Untether 5.0.1 to do the job. The latter is what we'll focus on in this post...

Functioning and Legal Siri Port Finally Released in Cydia [Update]

Since Apple unveiled Siri as an iPhone 4S-exclusive feature back in October, the entire jailbreak community has been waiting for it to be ported to older devices. We've seen videos of hackers running the digital assistant on non-4S hardware, but never a public release.

Tonight it would seem like the wait is finally over, as a new jailbreak app entitled Spire has just surfaced in Cydia. The utility, created by prominent jailbreak developers Ryan Petrich and chpwn, is a tool for installing Siri on unsupported, jailbroken devices...

OpenBackup: One of the Most Promising Jailbreak Backup Solutions on Cydia

Today I tried out OpenBackup, a new package backup solution for your jailbreak apps and tweaks. Admittedly, I was a bit skeptical. I've had my fair share of experiences with backup tools for jailbreak apps tweaks in the past, and they either don't work, or are overly complicated.

Outside of PKGBackup, I can't really recommend any backup solutions, although I have yet to try iBye (I have heard good things about that).

But even an excellent app like PKGBackup can be borderline confusing when it comes to safely backing up and restoring your Cydia tweaks. With the advent of iCloud, I held out hope that a backup tool could harness its power for backups and restores, and that's just what happened.

Ladies and gentlemen, introducing OpenBackup, the first tool of its kind that utilizes iCloud for seamless backups and restores...

New RedSn0w Update To Make Use of iOS 5 SHSH Blobs for Downgrading

Hot on the heels of the iFaith update from iH8sn0w that made iOS 5 SHSH blobs usable, the DevTeam is working on updating RedSn0w to do something similar.

Just a few minutes ago, iPhone DevTeam member MuscleNerd tweeted that an upcoming release makes both TinyUmbrella and Cydia blob saves useful for iOS 5.0+. This is great news for would be downgraders...

H1Siri: App Claiming Full Siri Functionality For the iPhone 4 Surfaces in Cydia

Ever since videos started popping up online of Siri working on non-iPhone 4S devices, everyone has wondered one thing: when will it be available to the masses? Apple has restricted Siri to its latest handset, so hackers have taken it upon themselves to set it free.

Up until this point, the digital assistant port has only been possible for knowledgeable folks with access to iPhone 4S files. But a jailbreak utility has just surfaced in Cydia that could change that. The app is H1Siri, and it claims to offer full Siri functionality on the iPhone 4...

How to Track Your App Usage With App Stat

Do you know what your favorite apps are? If you think you do, then you may be surprised to uncover the truth about what apps you use most.

App Stat is a free jailbreak app that does just that. It logs the amount of times you've launched your apps and how long you've used every app on your iDevice. App Stat was recently updated with iOS 5 support, so we've taken it upon ourselves to create a video walkthrough of it in action...
