Apple Store goes offline ahead of today’s “Hello again” Mac event

Like clockwork, Apple has taken its online stores around the world offline ahead of today's “Hello again” Mac event, which kicks off with a keynote at 10am PT / 1pm ET at Town Hall on the Cupertino campus. iDownloadBlog will be providing remote live coverage of the announcements as they happen.

Apple typically takes the online store down ahead of major product introductions. The store should go back up with new product listings as soon as the event wraps up. Be sure to stick around as we've got a lot more coming up.

Apple Stores begin removing security tethers from display iPhones

Apple continues perfecting retail experience for its customers as CNET reports today that some Apple Stores have begun to remove or have already removed security tethers from iPhone display models. Last year, Apple relegated iPods to side shelves and removed iPad smart signage.

According to CNET, Apple's flagship London Regent Street store re-opening this Saturday will feature Apple's next-generation store design and no iPhone security tethers.

Apple Regent Street to reopen on October 15

Apple announced today that its flagship Regent Street store in London, England, will reopen on Saturday, October 15, after the company spent more than a year on major interior renovations. The new-look store will preserve the building's historic look, like before. “We're making the store you love even lovelier,” reads the Apple Regent Street's listing on the official Apple Retail website.

Apple Online Store goes offline ahead of today’s iPhone 7 event

With just a few hours left until Apple's big reveal, the Apple Online Store has gone offline. “We've got something special in store for you,” reads the message. “And we can't wait for you to see it.” Apple is expected to announce the iPhone 7, Apple Watch 2, new Beats accessories and more.

As usual, the store will come back online after the event has wrapped up.

Apple Store updates: design changes, new & renamed positions + ambitious retail credo

During an all-hands meeting held with retail employees this weekend, Apple's retail boss Angela Ahrendts discussed changes coming to its brick-and-mortar locations while revealing an updated corporate credo that all retail employees are expected to follow.

She also announced three new retail positions—Pro, Creative Pro and Technical Expert—renamed a few existing ones and shared tidbits on Jony Ive-approved store design and layout, as first discovered by MacRumors.

Apple’s upcoming World Trade Center store to open next Tuesday

Apple is set to open a new brick-and-mortar outlet at the World Trade Center Transportation Hub, a $4 billion train transit station in Lower Manhattan, in less than a week, on Tuesday, August 16, at 12pm ET. The firm announced that its tenth store in New York City, located at 185 Greenwich Street, is located in the lower level section of the Oculus Transportation Hub.

Will overhauled Apple Store shopping app launch today or next Thursday?

Welcome to Thursday, when Apple typically refreshes its app and content stores with new apps, games and media. Bloomberg said last week that Apple was working on a totally overhauled Apple Store shopping app that should include a “For You” tab and have the same basic features and interface across the iPhone, iPad and iPod touch.

Reports on Twitter and MacRumors reveal that a banner for the new Apple Store app has now gone live on some international App Stores, suggesting imminent launch.

Apple is currently working on a redesigned version of its Apple Store mobile app with new recommendation features, reports Bloomberg. Citing sources familiar with the project, the outlet says the updated app could be rolled out in the next two weeks.

At the heart of the refresh is expected to be a "For You" tab, that will suggest products based on prior orders—similar to what Amazon.com does with its recommendations. So after buying an iPhone, the app could recommend cases and other accessories.
