Apple iPad Event to Take Place on March 2nd

Apple will be holding a press event next week at the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts in San Fransisco. The event is supposed to be focused on the iPad 2.

There have been reports that Apple's iPad announcement would be delayed, but multiple sources (including Apple) have recently confirmed that Apple will in fact hold an event next Wednesday.

Not much information has been leaked about the approaching Apple event besides specs for the next version of the iPad. Apple might update iOS as well, but there is no hard evidence to support that claim.

The iPhone 5 Rumor Roundup

Rumors regarding the next iteration of the iPhone have been flying left and right. If you've been following the rumor mill, you know that there's a lot of potential innovations to be implemented into Apple's next iPhone.

Will Apple release several different iPhone models at once? Will the next iPhone be considerably smaller than its predecessors? Will Apple release the iPhone 5 on all carriers with a universal baseband?

These, among others, are all questions being asked about the next iPhone. Let's examine the rumors and try and make sense of it all...

White iPhone 4 Coming Soon?

When will the white iPhone 4 be available? That's the eternal question that hopefully will get an answer sooner rather than later. Maybe even sooner than we thought. If you go to Vodafone UK's website right now, you can see an iPhone 4 in white color labeled as "coming soon".

So what is this? A marketing stunt from Vodafone to get a little attention, or a clear sign that the unicorn white iPhone 4 is right around the corner? Your guess is as good as mine...

iPhone Nano Concept – “Squeeze” to Close Apps

There have been multiple rumors surfacing lately that Apple is working on a smaller iPhone "Nano." The device is rumored to have a smaller form factor and use cloud-based storage (possibly in accordance with a revamp of MobileMe).

iPhone Nano concepts have been floating around since the rumors gained traction, and a design concept by Max Rudberg stands out from the rest. Max runs Max Themes, and has developed popular jailbreak themes (such as Glasklart and Serious SBSettings).

Max came up with a very interesting concept for how a smaller iPhone Nano could operate without a home button...

MobileMe Scheduled to Receive Significant Update, Live Video Streaming?

I've always lamented over the high price of MobileMe when compared to the benefits derived from Apple's cloud service. Needless to say, MobileMe has fallen behind in recent years in terms of usefulness. Well, if the latest rumors are anything to go by, expect big changes to MobileMe in the near future.

These changes include the already discussed cloud service for the rumored iPhone Nano, along with a host of other changes like video streaming à la Ustream, location awareness like Foursquare, and other interesting tidbits.

Who said MobileMe was past its prime?

Wanna See What a 4-Inch Display Would Look Like on an iPhone 5?

Earlier today we reported there were rumors going around the web claiming that the iPhone 5 might come with a 4-inch screen, increasing from the current 3.5-inch display. When I first read about that, I really wondered what it could look like. Then the fine folks at 9to5Mac came up with a mockup of a 4-inch display applied to the iPhone 4 hardware.

The result as you can see is not very pretty. The screen goes all the way to the edge and the size of the home button has to be reduced to fit. Following rumors from last month, Apple could even go as far as removing the home button altogether...

iPhone 5 to Feature 4-inch Display?

Just when you thought there were enough iPhone 5 rumors for the day, another rumor drops. The latest rumor comes courtesy of Digitimes.

According to Digitimes, Apple's next generation iPhone 5 will sport a 4-inch display, increasing from the current 3.5-inch display. Digitimes claims that the change comes to better compete with current Google Android handsets from HTC, Samsung, and Motorola...

An iPhone 5 with a Slideout Keyboard?

tw.Apple.pro, a Taiwanese website that has a pretty good track record of publishing leaked information about Apple products, claims today that Cupertino has been evaluating 3 different hardware prototypes of the iPhone 5, one of them including a slideout keyboard.

A second prototype apparently would be what the iPhone 3GS was to the iPhone 3G: a similar-looking but improved model. This version of the iPhone 5 would be the same as the iPhone 4, but would have a bigger battery and an improved camera lens...

Rumor: iPhone Nano Will Be Totally Cloud-Based

Rumors regarding the mysterious "iPhone Nano" have been surfacing everywhere lately. Speculation started gaining some traction last week, with a report from Bloomberg saying that Apple has been working on a smaller and cheaper version of the iPhone.

The Wall Street Journal recently corroborated and added some details to Bloomberg's report. According to the WSJ, the "iPhone Nano" will be considerably smaller than the current iPhone and heavily rely on Apple's MobileMe service.

More rumors have emerged regarding the iPhone Nano...

WSJ Confirms iPhone Nano Rumor, Will Also Have Edge to Edge Screen and Voice Navigation

Last week, we reported on a new rumor that Apple was working on a smaller and cheaper version of the iPhone (aka iPhone Nano) to increase market share against Google's Android handsets. Today, the Wall Street Journal confirms that according to their sources, Apple is indeed working on a less pricey version of the iPhone.

The Wall Street Journal claims that the new, smaller iPhone will be available “at about half the price of Apple’s main line of iPhones.” The smaller iPhone is said to be sold alongside Apple’s main line of phones, which will provide consumers with more options.

The report also mentions that this new iPhone will be significantly lighter and will have an “edge-to-edge” screen, along with voice-based navigation for Maps. WSJ's source also claims that Apple plans to upgrade the iPhone 4 as well.

Apple to Bring in an App Developer to Revamp iOS Notification System?

Here is an interesting rumor started by Cult Of Mac, which claims that Apple is working on revamping their notification system. No big surprise here so far as the iOS notification system is passable at best, and usually is one of the top complains from heavy users.

The surprising bit of information is that Apple might be buying out an iPhone developer company, instead of working on its own. According to Cult of Mac, Apple is currently talking to one small developer to purchase his company to improve and integrate his work in a future version of iOS...

Apple Working on a Smaller and Cheaper iPhone Model?

It had been a while since we'd heard rumors of an iPhone nano. But today, the rumor mill is back on. According to Bloomberg, Apple is currently working on a smaller and cheaper version of the iPhone.

This smaller iPhone would be sold $200 without a contract. The goal here would obviously be to gain market shares against Google's Android who comes with dozens of various devices priced differently, aiming at a larger population...
