Over 14 million devices are running Cydia on iOS 6.x

The long-awaited iOS 6.x jailbreak, known as evasi0n, has been dubbed the most popular jailbreak ever. And rightly so. In its first 10 minutes, it was used by over 100,000 people. And 4 days later, that number grew to 7 million.

Today, nearly a month after evasi0n's release, there's a new statistic out. Evad3rs team member pod2g just passed along the news from Saurik that more than 14 million devices have now been seen running Cydia on iOS 6.x...

Would you pay more for an iPad mini with Retina display?

Apple is widely expected to do some major updating to its tablet line this fall. The latest reports allege that the company is going to give its 9.7-inch iPad a complete makeover, and squeeze a high resolution Retina display into its smaller sibling.

The latter scenario is particularly interesting, because screen resolution has been the one complaint users have had with the current iPad mini. But according to new data from iSuppli, consumers may end up paying more for the extra pixels...

Apple makes more on iTunes and accessory sales than most companies do on phones

Well known and respected Asymco analyst Horace Dediu is out with a new report this week entitled 'Counting stool legs.' The piece takes a look at Apple's newly-introduced revenue categories—mainly iTunes, which now includes sales from OS X, iWork, and Apple's other pro tools.

The big takeaway here is that, under this new structure, iTunes can no longer be considered a 'break even' business. Because, as Dediu points out, the combined sales from iTunes and accessories is now bigger in terms of revenues than any other phone vendor, except for Samsung...

Apple’s ‘disappointing’ holiday quarter compared to other companies

When Apple announced the results for its 2012 holiday quarter, the reaction from Wall Street was extremely negative. Despite selling a record 48 million iPhones, and recording a record $54.5 billion in revenue, the company's stock dropped more than 10% following the news.

A lot of folks have tried to explain the phenomenon—investors are worried about its slowing growth, or its ability to handle stronger competition from the likes of Google and Samsung. But the truth is, Apple is performing better than it ever has, and better than everyone else...

We've been keeping close tabs on the popularity of the evasi0n jailbreak since it was released on Monday. Within the first 10 minutes, it saw over 100,000 downloads. And yesterday morning, Saurik said that it had crossed the 1.7 million mark.

Today, pod2g shares even more interesting stats on the jailbreak, noting that the evasi0n website has seen more than 5 million unique visitors, and 40 million page views in the last few days. Here's a breakdown of all of that traffic by country...

Evasi0n has been downloaded over 1.7 million times so far

In the first 10 minutes that evasi0n was online, it had already been downloaded 100,000 times, an incredible number if you ask me. For those of you that aren't impressed yet, Cydia's saurik has shared some stats in an article published earlier today by Forbes.

According to saurik, Cydia was installed on over 1.7 million iOS devices since evasi0n was released yesterday...

evasi0n sees over 100,000 downloads in first 10 minutes

About 20 minutes ago, the moment everyone has been waiting for finally arrived: the evad3rs released their untethered iOS 6 jailbreak called 'evasi0n.' Now, everyone with a device running iOS 6 or higher (except for the ATV) can jailbreak their devices.

And it seems like everyone wants to. Unless you got in within the first few minutes, you probably received the above error when trying to download the evasi0n utility. That's because there's over 270,000 people trying to access the site right now...

NPD: iPhone 5 was top selling smartphone in the US last quarter

Strategy Analytics reported earlier today that Apple passed Samsung as the top US mobile phone vendor for the first time ever last quarter. The move was attributed to the company's big holiday push and strong iPhone 5 sales.

How strong? Well according to the NPD Group, Apple's latest handset was the top selling smartphone in the final quarter of last year. It accounted for 43% of all iPhone sales, and nearly 2/3 of all post-paid smartphones above $199...

Infographic shows where Apple spends its money

Despite the fact that investors have begun to worry about Apple's future, the company is still one of the wealthiest in the world. The iPad-maker added another $13 billion to its cash pile last quarter, bringing the total to $137 billion.

And that number will only continue to grow, because Apple doesn't really spend much money. Maybe a few billion on research and development, and another couple on data centers and other facilities. But not enough to make a dent...
