London’s sushi place tests iPad-controlled iTray

Yo! Sushi, a UK restaurant franchise, made a name for itself by delivering sushi to customers using the Japanese style 'kaiten' conveyor belt method. In a nice marketing gimmick, they are testing out the iTray, an iPad-controlled quadricopter which delivers sushi on flying trays to surprised customers. The method is being trialled by staff at Yo! Sushi in Soho, central London. Your video is right after the break...

iOS 7 icons and other details leak ahead of Apple’s WWDC keynote

Spoiler alert! For folks who don't want to ruin the surprises Apple has in store for us tomorrow, I recommend you stop reading now. The folks over at 9to5Mac say they've just been given a sneak peek at an early beta of iOS 7, and have described it in detail.

Contrary to a report from earlier today, it sounds like most of what we've heard about the next version of iOS is spot on. The entire UI has been completely redesigned with flat icons and other elements, and a new, Helvetica Nueue Ultra Light-like font...

WSJ confirms Apple will introduce new music service tomorrow

In what has become almost a customary, pre-keynote tradition, The Wall Street Journal has just posted a story claiming that it has confirmed the long-standing rumors that Apple will be introducing a new streaming music service tomorrow.

According to the report, Apple is poised to unveil the new service during its keynote address tomorrow morning in what it calls its most ambitious collaboration with the music industry since the launch of the iTunes Music Store a decade ago...

A look back at WWDC banners over the past 11 years

Tomorrow morning, Tim Cook and company will take the stage for Apple's annual WWDC keynote. And looking at the recently hung banners, they'll use at least part of the event to show off a new version of OS X and a redesigned iOS 7.

The banners have become a staple at the Conference, offering up subtle clues and not-so-subtle clues of what's to come. And with that in mind, as we prepare for a big day tomorrow, here's a look at the WWDC banners from the last decade...

iDB is ready for WWDC tomorrow, are you?

In case you haven’t picked up on it yet, tomorrow is a huge day for Apple. Not only is it the first day of WWDC, but the Cupertino company will also be giving a keynote speech in which it's expected to make a number of announcements.

As presumed, there won’t be a live video stream of tomorrow’s media event. And a clip of the keynote won’t likely be available until hours after it’s over. But never fear, iDB will be here all day providing you with coverage and commentary...

WSJ: ‘new ways’ to share photos, videos in iOS 7

Throwing its proverbial credibility behind a recent rumor of iOS 7 having native Flickr and Vimeo integration, the credulous Wall Street Journal has just published a write-up which asserts that Apple's upcoming iOS revision will feature photo-sharing enhancements alongside new look. iOS 7 will include "new ways to share photos and videos" with other users, people who are reportedly involved in its development said...

Gruber: all the iOS 7 leaks are wrong

During this week's episode of The Talk Show podcast, well known Apple dot connector and author of the popular blog Daring Fireball John Gruber offered up a few tidbits he's heard about what Apple may unveil at its WWDC keynote tomorrow.

While he notes that he has heard very little about what Apple has in store for this year, Gruber says that he has heard from somebody who is familiar with the company's plans that "all of the leaks are wrong" in regards to iOS 7...

iOS 7 and OS X logos go up at Moscone West

Apple yesterday started dressing up the Moscone West building ahead of Monday's keynote. The banners depicting flat icons hint at the iOS 7 redesign while revealing the conference slogan: "Where a whole new world is developing".

Numerous photographs of both the interior and exterior have arrived since and today we capture a glimpse of what looks like the official iOS 7 logo.

Unlike past graphics-heavy iOS logos, the newly revealed signage outside San Francisco's Moscone West depicts an elegant and very thin "7" against the white background. As you could imagine, it oozes minimalism and stylishness, which are said to be key themes behind the major iOS 7 overhaul.

Yes, 7 could mean anything and yes, we're pretty sure Apple meant iOS 7...

SwiftKey maker hopes iOS 7 will allow third-party keyboards

Unlike iOS, Android from its beginning has had the ability to install third-party keyboard software for on-screen touch typing.

It's actually one of Android's major advantages over iOS: third-party keyboard apps greatly improve upon stock experience with helpful features such as gestures, better voice control, enhanced predictions and even specialized input rules.

There's no other way around the fact that stock iOS keyboard experience hasn’t kept pace with Android in terms of recognition, predictive typing and other capabilities. As much as we'd love Tim Cook & Co. to open up iOS, we'll have to do with the limited stock experience for the time being (unless you're jailbroken, of course).

But that's not stopping folks like TouchType from keeping their fingers crossed. For those unfamiliar with TouchType, they are behind the popular SwiftKey software keyboard for Android phones. Speaking out publicly about the issue, one of TouchType execs clearly has his hopes high on an Apple-sanctioned third-party keyboard development...

Samsung’s Galaxy S4 dead in the water

Following clickbait dead-in-the-water headlines which spelled doom for Apple on overzealous analysts projecting overly optimistic iPhone sales, it's now Samsung's turn to feel Wall Street's wrath. So, is Samsung's smartphone business running out of steam?

That's the question Wall Street is pondering as investors punish the South Korean firm after orders for its flagship Galaxy S4 had supposedly dropped by as much as thirty percent.

Friday, Samsung shares slid by more than six percent after more than $12 billion was sliced from the Android maker's market capitalization. Can Samsung stop the downward spiral, perhaps offering a stock buyback as Apple did? Or are we seeing only the latest signs of an industry-wide slowdown in demand?

Either way, the old saying about people living in glass houses seems all the more pertinent...

Apple updates WWDC app with improved video playback and more

Earlier this week, Apple released an iOS app for its upcoming WWDC. The app will help attendees stay on top of the latest news and events going on at the conference, and allow registered developers to watch daily session videos.

Those that have downloaded the app will be happy to hear that Apple has updated it for the second time this week. This time around, it has received a number of improvements, including several bug fixes for video playback...
