Awareness iPhone App Filters Out Unwanted Noise in Your Headphones

Just for the record I have yet to publish an article for an app that has been sponsored or paid for in any way. I say that so when you see that I'm writing about an app, that I actually find it worthy or ridiculous enough to mention. This one falls under both categories.

Engadget has a little write up about a new selection in the App Store called Awareness! (punctuation theirs). Awareness sets up a noise threshold to your headphones, then disallows those noises from entering your state of consciousness. At least that's what it says...

AT&T CEO is Not Worried About Losing iPhone Exclusivity

I like people with confidence. They maintain an aura of cool while some intense situations are presented to them. Then once in a while their confidence is largely mistaken as delusion. Is that what is happening with the CEO of AT&T and his latest claim of not caring about losing iPhone exclusivity? Not really.

Market Watch has a report that cites Randall Stephenson telling investors that basically the majority of current iPhone users are in long contracts as it stands. That's certainly true however those "long" contracts are less than 2 years and will eventually need to be renewed to stay long term...

I just knew it. I knew it wouldn't be long until the latest Verizon iPhone rumor hit the web waves and I'd be writing about it shortly thereafter. I did not think it would be as concrete as this appears to be.

An analyst with Susquehanna Financial Group mentioned in a note to suppliers that Apple is preparing to build 3 million CDMA capable iPhones by December. This is to keep on track with an apparent early 2011 release. Are you getting a headache yet?

Only 23% of AT&T Customers Would Switch for a Verizon iPhone

A new survey by Credit Suisse shows that only 23% of AT&T customers would be willing to switch to Verizon if the carrier got the iPhone. The good old talk about a Verizon iPhone. Sigh. It seems I am the only believing there won't be a Verizon iPhone next year.

According to this survey, 23% would switch to Verizon, 3% would switch to Sprint, and only 2% would switch to T-Mobile. 9% are not sure what they would do. If you do the math, that leaves 63% of people staying with AT&T, most likely because they are satisfied...

Apple Makes 3% of All Smartphones but Takes 39% of All Profits

With the Apple stock flying at a all-time high these days, this new report shows that not only Apple is able to make great products that sell like hot cakes, but most importantly, they are making tons of money on each product sold.

According to Michael Walkley of the Canaccord Genuity Group, Apple made about 3% of all the smartphones in the first half of 2010, but it actually raked in 39% of the industry's profits...

How to Fix A Broken Home Button on Your iPhone

Do you have a broken or malfunctioning home button on your iPhone? If so, this trick that was sent to me by Evan on Twitter will allow you to still use your iPhone even if the home button doesn't work properly.

Now before you get too excited, this is just a workaround and it won't actually fix the button, but if your iPhone is jailbroken, this is your best chance at getting control over this broken home button again...

RedSn0w 0.9.6 Beta 1 Also Works on iOS 4.2 Beta

This morning we reported that the Dev Team had released RedSn0w 0.9.6 beta 1 and that this tool could be used to jailbreak an iPhone 3G running iOS 4.1.

MuscleNerd confirmed earlier today that this version of RedSn0w can also be used to jailbreak iOS 4.2 beta on an iPhone 3G, but this doesn't come without risks as they are many bugs...
