Revamped MobileMe to Include Music Locker Service, Cost $20 Per Year?

According to a report from The Music Void, Apple will be re-launching MobileMe this April, alongside a new, cloud-based music "locker." MobileMe will most likely be a free service, but The Music Void claims this new locker service will cost $20 a year.

The streaming locker service would have to tie into the iTunes backend, and users would be able to stream content between iDevices and the desktop. No specific details have been leaked about the locker in the sky, but The Music Void says Apple has already been hounding record labels for the rights to stream their content...

FCC Official Goes Off The Record, Says “No Way Chairman’s Office Rubber Stamps” AT&T’s T-Mobile Acquisition

With Sprint and ClearWire both opposing AT&T's $39 billion deal to acquire T-Mobile, the FCC doesn't seem to see this deal happening, either.

Today, the Wall Street Journal spoke off the record with a Federal Communications Commission official who claims that, “There’s no way the chairman’s office [will] rubber-stamp” AT&T’s $39 billion acquisition of T-Mobile USA from parent company Deutsche Telekom. The anonymous FCC official added that the approval process will be “a steep climb at least.”

Stream and Manage Podcasts On the iPhone With Instacast

Do you like to listen to podcasts? Do you subscribe to multiple podcasts in iTunes? If so, you realize how much of a pain it can be to manually transfer your podcasts from iTunes to your iPhone. Perhaps you don't even sync podcasts to your iPhone to conserve disk space.

Podcasts can take a considerable amount of memory on a device with limited storage, not to mention the time and hardrive space it takes to download each episode in iTunes. Wouldn't it be nice if there was a robust streaming solution for podcasts?

Instacast can best be described as Netflix for podcasts. As a cloud-based podcast streaming solution, Instacast is a fantastic stand-alone app for any podcast enthusiast...

‘Celeste’ Brings Apple Quality Bluetooth Sharing to Your iPhone

They say good things are worth waiting for, so maybe that's why it seems like the wait for Celeste has been forever.

Is it just me, or is Celeste one of the most hyped and anticipated jailbreak tweaks to come around in quite some time?

The Cocoanuts -- the development team behind Celeste and a handful of other popular iPhone tweaks -- did a pretty good job hyping and marketing its release.

So much so, that even in the wee hours of the morning, their activation servers couldn't handle the load shortly after it debuted on the Cydia store.

But the question remains; is all the hype surrounding Celeste deserved? Was Celeste worth salivating over the past few weeks? Check inside for the full lowdown...

App Denied from App Store Makes Its Way to Cydia

The Tawkon app would have probably gone unnoticed in the App Store, but not being approved by Apple in the first place is probably the best thing that ever happened to it.

The developer of the app had been in contact with Apple executives who apparently loved the app. Everything looked fine until they got an email from Apple saying their app couldn't be approved.

The dev emailed Steve Jobs about it, asking why the app wasn't approved, to which Steve replied "No interest". Clear enough! So the developer decided to bring his app to Cydia...

Xpandr is Back in my Top 5 Favorite Jailbreak Apps

I've talked about Xpandr before, the jailbreak app that allows you to create shortcuts, a la TextExpander. When iOS 4 came up, it seems that Xpandr didn't support it right away, which led me to remove it from my iPhone, or rather not install it when a jailbreak for iOS 4 came out. Up until now, I was using TextExpander which is great but is supported by very few apps in iOS.

Yesterday, while I was calling for a dev to create a jailbreak tweak to integrate TextExpander to any iOS application, I was quickly reminded by several of you of the existence of Xpandr, so I installed it again, and to my great surprise, I realized it was working with iOS 4. The love story started all over again...

Geohot Flees the Country in the Heat of Sony’s Lawsuit [Update: No, He Didn’t Flee]

I know this is not directly related to anything iPhone but I thought the news was important enough to report here on iDB. According to The Escapist, Geohot fled the country and is currently in South America.

In case you didn't know, Geohot is currently being sued by Sony for jailbreaking the PlayStation 3, and even though he pretends to be confident about the situation, he is clearly feeling the heat coming from the Japanese electronics giant...

Ron Walker is a Jump Master in the US Army. Basically, his job is to make sure army parachutist are ok to jump. During one of his missions, his iPhone 4 sneaked out of his pocket, and fell 1,000 feet down. At that time, he was resigned to buy a new iPhone later.

When he landed, some of his coworkers advised him to try to track his iPhone with Find My iPhone. Seconds later, his iPhone was localized, a couple miles away from where he was...
