Twitter Promises to Not Change TweetDeck

Twitter just announced on its blog that it has officially acquired TweetDeck. On top of that, Twitter has promised to maintain the TweetDeck that "users know and love."

When it was revealed that Twitter was purchasing TweetDeck for nearly $50 million, TweetDeck users got a little nervous. Would a Twitter buyout mean that the TweetDeck faithful would be left out in the cold? Twitter has assured that it has no plans to fundamentally change the popular third party client that so many people rely on...

AT&T Rolls Out LTE in 5 Cities, 10 More to Come by End of Year

AT&T issued a press release today saying that the company was going to roll out LTE in 5 cities by the summer, namely Dallas, Houston, Chicago, Atlanta and San Antonio. Additionally, AT&T will add LTE to another 10 cities by the end of the year.

Although I'm very excited AT&T is deploying LTE in more cities, we iPhone users will most likely not be able to enjoy this technology for a while, as it was reported the iPhone won't support LTE until 2012...

It'll be interesting to see if Apple gives Safari a facelift in the upcoming iOS 5 update. It's already rumored that several areas like voice control will receive an overhaul, but will the tiny browser see any improvements?

If you're not currently happy with Apple's default browser, there are several alternatives in the App Store. iCab and Atomic are awesome choices, but what about Opera Mini? Even if you didn't like the browser before, you might want to check out the latest update...

Cydia's recent update made the jailbroken app store faster and brought about some other nice improvements. One of those new features was the ability to resume your place in Cydia after exiting the app, so you weren't forced to start over each time you closed it.

Though it was a major step up from the previous version, it's not real multitasking. Downloading something in Cydia typically renders the rest of your iPhone helpless, but what if I told you there was an easy way to enable true multitasking?

Graphic artist Jan-Michael Cart is on a roll these days with his iOS 5 concept videos. After imagining how speech recognition and fast app switching might work on iOS 5 Jan-Michael is now sharing with us his vision of a Lion-style dashboard on Apple's next iOS update.

As Cart explains, when you slide over to the old Spotlight Search screen, the wallpaper shifts and you're taken into a Dashboard screen similar to the kind found in Mac OS X. You can have many pages of widgets...

Up until the Cupertino company launched iOS 4 last year, there wasn't any real data protection for iDevices. This left much of the government and enterprise market who require top notch security, holding onto their BlackBerry devices.

iOS 4 brought about industry-standard AES-256 encryption. The new protection consisted of encrypted key sets that were either tied to the device or to the iDevice user's passcode. Up until now, that encryption has been fairly unbreakable...

We like to give Android a hard time here at iDB, but we can also recognize when the platform offers features that the iPhone is still missing. It was only last week that I thought to myself it would be nice to have some kind of Android-like feature that would allow me to view all my applications in one place, without having to flick through several pages of apps.

It seems that iOS jailbreak developer Surenix heard me as he created AndroidLoader, an app that seems to do exactly what I was wishing for. Or does it?

Foxconn Accident Could Cost Apple 500,000 iPads

Last week a terrible accident happened at a Foxconn factory, which happens to be where iPad 2 are made. The explosion that claimed 3 lives and wounded several other people has obviously slowed down production at the factory.

According to research firm IHS iSuppli, Apple may face a production loss of 500,000 iPads after this explosion. Production capacities of the iPad 2 were already pretty tight with Apple selling them as fast as they were making them, but this accident could make things worse...

iPhone 5 to Get an 8MP Camera?

At this point of time, the question is not if the iPhone 5 will get an 8MP camera, but rather who is going to be the supplier. Earlier last month, Sony CEO dropped a bombshell by saying his company was going to work with Apple and provide them with camera sensors.

Today, DigiTimes is reporting that one of their "sources" claim that Largan Precision, a Taiwanese manufacturer of camera lenses for various phone makers is expecting a large order from Apple to supply them with 8 megapixels modules...
