New Infinity Blade Dungeons gameplay footage is totally eye-candy

If you own an iPad 3, Infinity Blade Dungeons is that killer game you’ve been dying to show off to your Android-toting friends. Unlike elegiac masterpieces Infinity Blade I & II that have been created by Chair Entertainment, Epic entrusted the creation of Infinity Blade Dungeons to a small team comprised of vets who worked on Gears of Wars.

It's one of a select few games Apple demoed during March’s iPad 3 introduction to show off the graphics prowess of its new tablet and the improved A5X chip that rocks quad-core graphics engine.

If this new gameplay footage is anything to go by, this dungeon crawler is going to raise the ladder of console-grade gaming on portable devices...

These two tweaks make it easier to delete contacts and history items

For some strange reason Apple has made deleting contacts an overly difficult task; they've likewise made deleting individual Safari history items impossible.

Perhaps these hurdles and restrictions exists by design, but that doesn't change the fact that they're both incredibly annoying.

If you happen to be jailbroken, two tweaks — OneByOne Safari and OneByOne Contacts — seek to address this lingering issue within iOS. Full video walkthrough inside...

Verizon clarifies plans to discontinue grandfathered unlimited data plans

Verizon's CFO Fran Shammo caused quite a commotion yesterday when he said the carrier was going to be discontinuing grandfathered unlimited data plans this summer. "Everyone will be on data share."

Folks are upset over the comments because up until this point, Verizon has allowed unlimited data users to keep the plan even though it no longer offers it. So the operator issued a clarification today...

New Party Doodles app shows the potential of Apple TV gaming

I've said before that I felt like AirPlay Mirroring was one of the most underrated features of iOS 5. The ability to wirelessly stream content from the device to a TV seemed like an open invitation for iOS developers to create console-esque games.

We've seen a couple of big name titles take advantage of this, but perhaps none of them showcases the feature's potential better than Cerebral Gardens' recently-released Party Doodles...

How to regain your iOS device’s stock Home screen layout

With so many tweaks available that allow you to rearrange your Home screen in various ways, it's almost inevitable that you end up with a Home screen that looks nothing like the original Home screen that you started with.

Fortunately there's a really easy way to reset your app icon layout on your Home screen.

A good lot of you are probably already aware that such an option exists, but it's a nice reminder since recent tweaks like Dashboard X can result in drastically altered Home screens that can be time consuming to rearrange by hand.

Take a look at our video walkthrough for more information...

ABC rips off Apple’s famed ’1984’ advert to hype up dumb singing contest

The American Broadcasting Company (ABC) has ripped off Apple’s famous advert dubbed 1984 in a cheapskate attempt to promote its upcoming new singing show called Duets (I know, don’t start).

Alluding to George Orwell's 1984 novel, ABC's cheesy commercial blatantly copies Apple’s down to a lookalike of an unnamed heroine in white tank top that represented the coming of the Macintosh.

Instead of throwing a large brass-headed hammer to smash a televised Big Brother, in ABC’s version an Olympic track and field athlete hurls a stage microphone at the big screen. Upon impact, the curtain falls down to reveal the familiar-looking set as the audience rises to a standing ovation...

Best Buy offering the iPhone 4 for $50

It's pretty obvious that we love our iPhones here at iDB. But we understand the handset can be a bit pricey. So we do our best to try and pass along any deals we find regarding the device.

The latest sale we've come across belongs to Best Buy. The international retail chain is currently offering the iPhone 4, on AT&T, Verizon and Sprint, for just $49.99 with a contract...

Take that, Greenpeace! Apple’s iCloud solar farm is a go

Apple doesn't run the cleanest of clouds, we all know this. Fortunately, the company's strides to reduce reliance on "19th-century coal energy”, as Greenpeace put it, have received a boost from The North Carolina Utilities Commission which has now approved plans for a massive solar farm to power Apple's $1 billion data center in Maiden, North Carolina.

It's gonna provide 20 megawatts of power to power iCloud servers that host the iTunes infrastructure, your music, photos, contacts and iOS device backups, to name a few...

Samsung: Apple “definitely using” our chips, “no plans” to cut production

Samsung has allegedly launched its latest 20-nanometer mobile memory chips ahead of schedule, acting on market concerns that a rumored Apple-Elpida partnership could hurt their business. New 4Gb mobile DRAMs are currently shipping to customers, the global conglomerate said, confirming it's been supplying memory chips for Apple's iPhone, iPod touch and iPad.

It's business as usual, execs for South Korea-based Samsung claim, adding the company is not losing its edge as Apple’s top-tier client. Still, Cupertino could soon buy fewer chips from Samsung as it's been moving aggressively to diversify its part-sourcing channels...

Switchy adds improvements to the iPhone’s App Switcher

The iPhone's App Switcher has gotten a bit long in the tooth, but if you're a jailbreaker, there's no shortage of tweaks that can help improve the app switching experience.

Switchy is the latest tweak to do that, and it's based on a concept design created by Brent Caswell. Caswell's beef with the current App Switcher stems from the fact that it takes up too much real estate, while providing minimal functionality.

Going into the concept, he apparently had no idea that a Cydia developer would turn his work into reality, but a few days later and Switchy lives. That's evident of how awesome the jailbreak community can be when it works together to implement new ideas...

HTC alters functionality of US handsets to bypass Apple patents

If you ever wondered whether Apple's patent infringement claims against HTC were worth the pain, here's your answer.

Responding to a recent exclusion order by the United States International Trade Commission (ITC) concerning HTC One X and Evo 4G LTE shipments, the Taiwanese handset maker, once the dominant force in the Android camp, is now pre-loading its U.S. phones with an altered build of Android software.

Designed to bypass Apple patents, it changes the expected behavior of these devices. As a result, flagship HTC phones waiting to be imported into the United States now feature notably different functionality compared to HTC devices shipping elsewhere in the world.

The change is also impacting the uniformity of the Android experience, suggesting Apple was right to sue in the first place...
