Hype aside, is it all you've been hoping for? The unanimous consensus seems to be a resounding 'yes', and then some more. Read on...

This jailbreak tweak lets you tell time using vibrations

Many people will think this tweak is completely devoid of usefulness, and to an extent I agree, but you have to admit that the idea and execution is original, and well done.

VibeTime is a jailbreak tweak available on Cydia, that allows you to tell the current time using vibrations. That means that it's totally within the realm of possibilities to tell the time without pulling your phone out of your pocket.

Sure, not many will find a real world use for this, but the idea and execution is pretty interesting...

Amazon outs GameCircle, it’s the Game Center for Kindle Fire games

Amazon is keen on taking its Kindle Fire tablet beyond reading e-stuff, listening to music and watching movies and has today announced GameCircle, a brand new application programming interface (API) for developers, with social gaming features akin to Apple's Game Center on iOS devices (and soon Mountain Lion Macs). It's got the basics nailed, the stuff like leaderboards and achievements. Amazon is hoping developers will quickly pick it up and enrich their Kindle Fire games and who knows, it may come in handy if the company decides upon releasing a phone of its own...

The developer of ‘DreamCoin’ has an extremely vivid imagination

DreamCoin is one of those jailbreak tweaks that is so goofy, you almost can't stop yourself from laughing out loud. As you can probably tell from the video within, even I was barely able to contain myself.

DreamCoin is nothing more than a glorified Activator toggle that sits on your Home screen. You can assign it one "dream" aka, an Activator action, and execute said action by tapping the coin residing on your Home screen. Dreams? Coins? Is this real life?

An easier way to mute your iPod touch or other iOS device

The fact that the iPod touch lacks a physical mute button, shouldn't prevent one from muting their device in style. A new jailbreak tweak, entitled TapVolumeToMute, allows you to do just that.

Even if you have an iOS device with a physical mute button, this is a tweak that you still might want to give a go. That's because it allows you to easily mute your device with a quick tap on the volume heads up display. More details inside...

Tomorrow's a big day for us gamers as two exciting releases are due to hit the iOS platform: Rovio's new puzzler called Amazing Alex and Tiny Wings 2, a sequel to Andreas Illiger's little gem that charmed us with the cutesy bird character, cartoonish graphics and its simple yet addictive gameplay that has you jumping up and down the hills.

Apple involved in 60% of all major mobile patent suits

When Steve Jobs unveiled the original iPhone back in 2007, he commented "and boy have we patented it." The CEO knew that Apple had something special on its hands, and that everyone else was going to try and replicate it.

He was right. Those patents he was referring to have since been involved in hundreds of lawsuits around the globe. In fact, a new report suggests that Apple is actually at the center of 60% of all major mobile litigation...

WSJ confirms Amazon has smartphone in the works

Rumors that Amazon is working on its own smartphone have been bouncing around for nearly a year now. But the speculation has really ramped up over the past couple of weeks.

Following a scoop from Bloomberg last week, a new report is out today claiming that the online retailer is currently testing an Android handset with a 4-5-inch display...

PhotoMojo, a simple photo editing and sharing app for iPhone

The app utlizes the Aviary engine to drive photo enhancements from speech bubbles to filters and offers many ways to share your new favorite photo...

Apple responds to concerns over EPEAT withdraw

Last week, the news came out that Apple had recently removed 39 of its products from the EPEAT (Electronic Product Environmental Assessment Tool) registry. EPEAT is essentially a list of environmentally friendly products.

There's already been a significant amount of backlash — from both the media and consumers — regarding the announcement. So last night, the company decided to comment on the matter...

Congress could end sales bans over standards-essential patents

Standards-essential patents. You hear this magical phrase brought up quite often in high-stake technology lawsuits. Heck, it might even have been mainstreamed by an ongoing legal spat between Apple and Google over an alleged Android infringement.

It's no secret that industry watchers and the media have long insisted that the patent system is broken beyond repair and that it should be scrapped altogether. Leveraging patents deemed essential to an industry standard can damage an infringing party in tens of millions of dollars worth of fines.

Patent experts have long considered the system unreasonable and punishments too severe. And now, deciding enough is enough, the United States Congress is considering forbidding sales bans related to essential patents. If the proposal is accepted, technology giants like Apple and Samsung may no longer be allowed to request bans on infringing devices...

Apple HR corporate video explains what it’s like workin’ for the man

9to5Mac's Mark Gurman did a nice job discovering Apple HR's employee recruiting video on YouTube. It's definitely worth spending four minutes and 36 seconds of your time for it tells a story of what it's like working for the world's most-valuable company and arguably the most powerful corporation on the planet.

We know from the previous reports that landing a gig at Apple entails putting in long hours and dedicating yourself to the job completely. This video paints a different picture in that it highlights some of the perks that go with the job.

Gurman opines in his piece over at 9to5Mac that this Apple-produced clip represents "the most in-depth tour of Apple’s Cupertino headquarters that we have ever seen on a public forum, especially Apple’s own website"...
