As you've probably noticed, Apple and Samsung are locked in a high stakes courtroom battle in northern California right now. Apple believes that Samsung intentionally copied its smartphone and tablet designs, and is seeking more than $2 billion in damages.

The debate on whether or not Samsung copied Apple has been going on since the Cupertino company filed its original lawsuit back in April of last year. But it's hoping to convince the California court journey with the help of these three product timeline images...

It's day 5 in the ongoing patent trial between Apple and Samsung, and Scott Forstall, Apple's SVP of iOS software, is on the witness stand. As you can imagine, his time under oath has been fairly interesting thus far.

AT&T to pull the plug on its 2G network by 2017

Internal email shows Steve Jobs was receptive to 7-inch tablet idea

Opponents of the rumored iPad mini have continued to recall Jobs' disdain for a smaller screen as evidence that it won't happen. And technically, they're right. The CEO has been quoted as saying 7-inch displays are too small.

But that doesn't mean it won't happen. And in fact, according to an internal email that just popped up in the ongoing Samsung-Apple trial, the CEO actually showed some interest in the idea as recent as January 2011.

CBS CEO says the network is open to Apple TV deal

Yesterday, during the network's earnings call, CBS CEO Les Moonves responded to an analyst's question regarding his willingness to do business with Apple. As expected, his answer fell somewhere along the lines of, "Sure, as long as it's on our terms."

The question came in wake of the recent addition of the Hulu Plus service to Apple TV. Now that executives have hashed out that seemingly impossible deal, a lot of folks seem to have a "the sky's the limit" attitude towards the Apple TV platform...

Does Epic Games have an iPhone 5?

Developer Epic Games, the maker of the awesome Infinity Blade series, an elegiac masterpiece that really showcases what iOS gadgets are capable of, may be in possession of one of the very few production units of Apple's highly anticipated handset, the iPhone 5.

A reader pointed us to a page on Epic's website which makes a brief mention of the device. It could be nothing, but it could be everything as well.

iPad mini could generate $10B in revenue by selling 40M units in 12 months

Following a flurry of speculation concerning an allegedly smaller, inexpensive iPad (insert your sandpaper joke here), analysts are running their spreadsheets to determine business logic behind a yet-unreleased $249 device.

One analyst estimates the mini iPad could sell a whopping 40 million units in its first twelve months on the market. For comparison, Apple sold a total of 84.1 million iPads as of March 31, 2012...

Video depicts 0.1mm thinner, more scratch resistance iPhone 5 front panel

Two months ago a video made rounds comparing side-by-side the current iPhone 4S front panel to a 4.07-inch panel allegedly belonging to a sixth-generation iPhone. Another video showing off a partially assembled device scrapped together from the allegedly leaked parts also piqued our interest.

And now, a new clip hits the Interwebs comparing the front panel of the current iPhone 4S and the rumored iPhone 5. Some of the stuff that we gleaned from the seven-minute clip include a centered FaceTime camera and a taller display with a 16:9 aspect ratio, which aligns nicely with the previously leaked schematics. Foxconn rethinking its Sharp investment amid the sunset of Japan’s TV biz

Japanese giants once used to rule the consumer electronics landscape but no more. Even the TV set making biz, once the pinnacle of the "made in Japan" industry, has been declining rapidly due to strong competitive pressure from South Korea, the home to Samsung, the world's largest TV maker.

Foxconn, an assembly company, in March announced intentions to purchase an eleven percent stake in Sharp, a manufacturer. Pundits and industry execs saw the move as laying the groundwork for a mass-scale production of a rumored Apple television set as Foxconn also agreed to buy a 46.48 percent stake in Sharp's cutting-edge (though underutilized) LCD plant in Sakai in western Japan, a big loss maker for the company.

Even though Foxconn has helped Sharp weather some of the storm ahead, the company needs more help. Banks, however, are unwilling to issue new loans and Foxconn just decided to renegotiate the terms of its purchase of Sharp's shares. The best bit: Foxconn has yet to produce the money for that deal...

Samsung to launch new Galaxy Note phablet two weeks before iPhone 5

From the courtroom to the marketplace, Samsung is adamant to counter Apple's strides and retain its leadership with new device announcements. Samsung's strategy of releasing multiple handset and tablet models has paid off. The company's tablet tablet shipments during the second quarter of this year rose 117.6 percent. The flagship Galaxy S III handset that launched in early-May has become the chief contender to the iPhone and now the company is set to refresh its fabled phablet, the Galaxy Note, which despite naysayers produced some nice numbers...
