We know that Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (TSMC) recently started producing a more durable Touch ID sensor set to make its way into Apple's sixth-generation full-size iPad - call it the iPad Air 2, if you will.

We're also familiar with a bunch of meticulously created dummies based on the rumor-mill reporting, having shown you several photographs that highlight minor design changes spotted on iPad Air 2 dummy units floating around out there.

Another rumor claims September 19 iPhone 6 launch, no 16GB version

Last month, German wireless carrier Deutsche Telekom instructed its call center representatives to tell its existing customers that their loyalty could be well rewarded on September 19, the date support staff apparently singled out as the likely iPhone 6 release.

This morning, a Chinese outlet has reaffirmed that the 4.7-inch handset will indeed launch on Friday, September 19, 2014. The device is said to come in two storage flavors - 32 and 64GB varieties - as opposed to the current 16/32/64GB lineup...

Optical image stabilization could be exclusive to the 5.5-inch iPhone

There has been a myriad of rumors surrounding the oft-rumored iPhone 6 and what kinds of features we can expect in the next-generation smartphone. We've heard about potential flagship features, ranging from NFC and wireless charging to a thinner and rounder chassis, while one lesser-mentioned improvement could be optical image stabilization. But if a new prediction is accurate, the feature could be limited to the 5.5-inch iPhone.

According to Pacific Crest Securities analysts John Vinh and Kevin Chen, optical image stabilization could be exclusive to the 5.5-inch iPhone to help Apple differentiate the larger iPhone with the 4.7-inch model that is also expected to be released. The analysts claim that a $4 to $5 premium on optical image stabilization over traditional auto-focus solutions could be the underlying decision behind this move…

Apple updates iWork for iCloud with new features

In keeping true to its promise of bringing back most of the missing features pulled from its iWork for iCloud web apps following a major rethinking of the productivity suite, Apple on Tuesday rolled out another refresh to web-based Pages, Keynote and Numbers apps.

Features enabled across all three web productivity apps include tips on how to cut, copy and paste using keyboard shortcuts, the ability to right-click to mask images and suggestions for your most recent screen name when opening a shared document.

The Pangu jailbreak team is hard at work on updated versions of its jailbreak tool

As of now, there is only one OS supported for the Pangu jailbreak—Windows—and even that version has its fair share of issues. The Pangu team has acknowledged the problems, and posted an updated status message on the Chinese microblogging site Weibo.

The post indicates that the team is hard at work on new Windows and Mac versions of its tool, including English translated text (nice), and a smaller file size. The team even hints that we could see a Linux version of the tool as well. Have a look inside for the full message.

Apple adds MLB At Bat to its list of CarPlay-enabled apps

Apple's in-car entertainment solution, CarPlay, features limited support for third-party applications, ranging from Stitcher and Apple's own Podcasts to Beats Music, iHeartRadio and Spotify. Previously demoed at WWDC earlier this month, you can now put MLB At Bat on the list of officially supported CarPlay apps, according to Apple's own CarPlay webpage...

Misfit unveils Pebble activity tracking app

Kickstarter-funded smartwatch maker Pebble has teamed up with another young startup, Misfit, on an activity tracking application for the Pebble smartwatch that doesn't require a dedicated tracking accessory or a smartphone to function.

Of course, the new Misfit Pebble app also talks to the official Misfit for iPhone software, which will be updated soon with support for setting your activity goals via the Pebble, tracking progress and more.

Pebble says it's “the first milestone in an ongoing partnership,” but stopped short of specifying what other goals the arrangement with Misfit might entail...

iOS 7.1.1 jailbreak uses expired enterprise certificate loophole

You may remember MuscleNerd as being the head of the iPhone Dev Team, which has been on the sidelines in recent years in favor of the Chronic Dev Team and, later, the evad3rs. Nevertheless, the well-known iPhone hacker congratulated the Pangu Team for its impromptu iOS 7.1.1 untethered jailbreak release, in addition to providing some interesting commentary on how the exploit works.

According to his tweets, MuscleNerd says that the most unique part of the Pangu jailbreak is that it uses an expired enterprise certificate as an injection vector. He adds that enterprise certificates are something that have been out of bounds for the iPhone Dev Team, due to legal reasons, but he is glad that this method was used rather than the Pangu team burning through something more native and powerful…

Notific8: make iOS 7’s Notification Center look like iOS 8

Notific8 is a brand new jailbreak tweak that aims to make iOS 7's Notification Center look more like iOS 8. The changes, which take effect immediately upon installing the tweak, consist of small aesthetic adjustments.

From a functionality standpoint, Notific8 is lacking, as it doesn't actually do much outside of visual adjustments. Still, it's a decent way to alter Notification Center to make it align with Apple's future design cues. Have a look at our video inside.
