iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus available beginning September 18?

German blog Macerkopf.de is reporting that Apple's upcoming 'iPhone 6s' and 'iPhone 6s Plus' smartphones will hit store shelves on Friday, September 18, or nine days following the rumored September 9 unveiling that BuzzFeed’s usually-reliable John Paczkowski recently reported on.

Apparently two of Germany's top three wireless carriers expect to kick off sales of the new handsets on Friday, September 18.

This assumed schedule would match up nicely with past iPhone release patterns.

How to boot your Mac in Verbose Mode

We previously discussed how booting your Mac into macOS' Safe Mode can help troubleshoot various issues with your computer. In more obscure situations and borderline cases, however, Safe Mode may not be enough to understand why your Mac freezes or crashes during the system boot process.

Enter macOS Verbose Mode.

Not only does Verbose Mode makes it easy to access detailed status messages as your Mac is starting up, but also lets you see what's really going on behind the scenes and watch as macOS loads kernel extensions and other startup items.

In this tutorial, we're going to cover booting your Mac in macOS' Verbose Mode, explain in which situations it might come in handy and give you some handy tips related to using Verbose Mode.

Why I jailbroke my iPhone 6 Plus again and why you should consider it as well

I've been running the iOS 9 beta on my iPhone 6 Plus and have been using the iPhone 5s as my jailbroken device for the last 2-3 weeks. My idea was to use the iPhone 5s as my jailbreak device, and keep my daily driver—my iPhone 6 Plus—jailbreak free.

But once Apple released the jailbreak-killing iOS 8.4.1, my tune changed. I decided to go back to iOS 8.4 and jailbreak my iPhone 6 Plus again. Why'd I do it? I explain in this post...

Sprint’s brand new ‘iPhone Forever’ plan lets you pick up a new iPhone anytime you want

U.S. carrier Sprint on Monday announced a new plan which allows those who don't own one of the latest iPhones on their contract to upgrade at any time.

Aptly named 'iPhone Forever,' the new plan will set you back $22 per month and is available starting today to both new and existing Sprint users.

Here's how iPhone Forever compares to similar early-upgrade offerings by rival carriers.

Best Buy said to offer Apple’s extended warranty plans beginning September 13

Best Buy could start selling the AppleCare and AppleCare+ extended warranty protection plans for various Apple products as soon as Sunday, September 13. According to an internal training video obtained by MacRumors, Best Buy's outlets in the United States are gearing up to sell Apple's extended warranty plans for the iPhone, iPad, Mac, Apple Watch and other eligible products, such as the 27-inch Thunderbolt Display.

If the sources are right, Best Buy will become Apple's first non-carrier retailer to sell extended warranty plans which are normally offered via Apple's retail store and on the company's online store.

New purported details about next iPhone and iPad’s ‘A9’ chip emerge

Interesting tidbits regarding Apple-designed 'A9’ chip said to power the upcoming 'iPhone 6s' and 'iPhone 6s Plus' handsets surfaced Monday, offering some previously unknown details regarding its performance and design.

It appears that the next iPhone and iPad's processor could employ so-called system-in-package (SiP) design which squeezes some additional components into a tiny chip, including the baseband modem and the power management circuitry.

Moreover, a leaked benchmark purports to compare single and multi-thread performance of several unreleased mobile processors, such as NVIDIA's Denver 2, Samsung's Exynos M1, Huawei’s Kirin 950, LG's NUCLUN 2 and Apple's A9 and A9X.

Hands-on with Multiplexer, the six-in-one multitasking tweak

Today, I got my first chance to try out Multiplexer, the highly anticipated upcoming multitasking tweak from Elijah Frederickson and Andrew Abosh, that's currently setting the jailbreak community ablaze.

Multiplexer can rightly be labeled as an "ultimate multitasking tweak", because it basically combines six multitasking-oriented jailbreak tweaks into one.

The tweak blends traditional side-by-side multitasking options along with enhanced backgrounding, and multiple desktops. But all of that is just the tip of the iceberg. Step inside as we give you the first hands-on look at Multiplexer on video.

Here’s a video walkthrough of the latest iMods beta, an upcoming Cydia alternative

iMods has posted a new video walkthrough of its long-in-the-works app, and it's made lots of progress. Unlike the Extensify app that we previewed last week, iMods is a true Cydia alternative that aims to provide users with a prettier UI, ratings, video previews, and more.

The video is impressive. It shows how tweaks are installed, navigating the various sections of the app, and more. Of course a video can only go so far. Trying iMods out for ourselves will be the ultimate test as to whether or not this is a viable Cydia alternative, but I have to admit that it looks good based on the video preview.

Apple posts three new Apple Music ads to YouTube

One week after posting the latest "If it's not an iPhone" advertisement to YouTube, Apple is back with three brand new ads that all center around its recently launched Apple Music service.

In the first ad, aptly named Discovery, several Apple Music features are touted—the fact that you have nearly every song and album available at your finger tips, the listener and artist discovery aspects, radio, and more.

In that spot and the others, several known artists and up and coming artists are highlighted, which makes Apple's tagline—All the artists you love and are about to love—even more relevant.

Textured pattern wallpapers for iPhone and iPad

Continuing the Wallpapers of the Week section, we turn to simplistic images. Often, patterns and textures make for great Home and Lock screen images because they can be colorful, but not distract from the UI elements, like the clock or app icons. Personally, I prefer this style wallpaper due to the simplistic nature of the images.

Below the fold, you will find several walls to choose from, which will bring nice contrast to your devices, even if color isn't a requirement to do so.

Tweaks of the week: Browsix, igSpeedster, MiniTimer, and more

This week, approximately 20 new tweak releases landed on Cydia. They range from basic releases like SongCount, which adds your total amount of songs to the Music app, to the more complex; Browsix lets you access the web from anywhere using a floating web browser mechanism.

All in all, there are many new tweaks this week that you may find interesting, and the majority of them are free. Check out the full list and see what you may have missed.
