iPhone Xs and iPhone Xs Max adopt improved IP68 water resistance

Apple’s new flagship handsets, the iPhone Xs and iPhone Xs Max, pack momentous hardware upgrades to the microchips and silicon inside, but they also feature improved resistance to water.

Taking the stage at the September 12th event, Apple’s own Phil Schiller revealed how the iPhone Xs and iPhone Xs Max each feature a robust IP68 water resistance rating, which is good for 2 meters for up to 30 minutes.

At Apple’s September 12th event, the Cupertino-based company unveiled its new iPhone Xs and iPhone Xs Max handsets with a bevy of hardware upgrades from their predecessor, the iPhone X.

One of the significant leaps comes by way of faster and more secure Face ID authentication, the process of which has been sped up with improved algorithms and a zippier secure enclave.

Among the new products Apple has announced at its Gather Round event this morning is the iPhone Xs Max. As the rumor mill predicted, this new handset features a 6.5-inch OLED panel, which Apple has branded a Super Retina display. It features a resolution of 458 ppi, 1-million-to-1 contrast ration, and support for Dolby Vision and HDR10.
