On top of our daily Hot Deals, I'd like to create a new section on iDB where we'll feature 20 apps to check out every week.
No doubt that you'll already know about some of these apps, but hopefully we can introduce you to a bunch of other apps that you wouldn't have found without us.
Ladies and gentlemen, without further ado, here are 20 applications worth checking out this week...
Apple has received a lot of criticism for leaving LTE out of its two latest iOS devices. After all, Android manufacturers have been implementing the 4G technology in handsets and tablets for over a year now.
But as Tim Cook noted last Summer, LTE chipsets have been too big and too battery-intensive thus far for Apple to justify using them in its devices. And it looks like HTC had to find that out the hard way...
Have you ever shot a video on your iPhone then uploaded it to your computer just so you could grab a few screenshots from the video? Well, it's now safe to say there's an app for that, and it is called QuickPix.
QuickPix allows you to snap photos while capturing video. The photos are sent directly to your camera roll for easy access. But that's not all...
This past week saw the release of some awesome tweaks like MyAssistant — a Siri tweak that adds a great amount of new functionality to Siri. There was also RingerX VIP, the ringer and vibrate customization utility, along with Zeppelin — the custom carrier logo tweak.
Please be sure to share our iPhone, iPad, and iOS video guides by spreading our posts on Twitter and Facebook.
Today HTC has reported a 26% drop in its fourth quarter profits. They went onto express the fear of that number growing to 36% by the end of 2012's first quarter.
The company had visions of a brighter future as they will announce new products at Barcelona's upcoming Mobile World Congress later this month, however this appears to not be the case.
CFO Winston Yung told analysts "Our weakness in first-quarter guidance [...] comes from facing competition in the U.S. from iPhone and Samsung." Samsung is currently the number one smartphone manufacturer in the world, but Apple, the 3rd largest, is gaining ground quickly...
Plex is a simple way to access both local media stored on your PC or networked drives, along with online media on a variety of devices.
There are Plex apps for the Mac, PC, iOS, and even Android devices. Being the ubiquitous app that it is, it's not surprising that it runs on a jailbroken Apple TV.
Inside we'll show you how to install Plex on your jailbroken Apple TV for free...
Creating custom ringtones is possible without jailbreaking, but it's still not the simplest feat in the world.
Jailbreaking, on the other hand, makes creating custom ringtones extremely easy.
AnyRing is one such jailbreak app dedicated to creating custom ringtones, SMS alerts, and mail alerts. Check out our video highlights of the recently updated app inside.
iPhone photography, dubbed 'iPhoneography', seems to be the new hip thing among iPhone users.
It's much easier to carry your iPhone around to take photos than an expensive DSLR, and with popular apps like Camera+, Instagram, and Camera Bag, you can take equally stunning shots.
Interestingly, a UK college wants to teach its students this new method...
When Steve Jobs unveiled the first Apple Store back in 2001, critics laughed at him. Many believed that Jobs' plan to open retail stores on prime real estate to spotlight Apple's products would send the company into bankruptcy.
But as we all know, things didn't quite play out that way. As with a majority of its other endeavors, Apple's retail chain is the best, and most lucrative in the business. And thanks to the recent iPhone 4S launch, the best just got better...
When Apple announced that its new Siri assistant would only be available on the iPhone 4S last October, it caused quite a commotion in the iOS community. It meant that millions of iOS users, even those who recently purchased new devices, would have to go without the feature.
We've heard a couple of theories on why Apple chose to make Siri 4S-only, including the need for a solid selling point for its new handset, and the fact that it's still in beta. But according to a recent CNET report, it's all about the processor...
A few days ago, Samsung released a teaser for what they called the next big thing, in which they made fun of us poor Apple users. Today we found out what the next big thing is when Samsung showed off the Note, during the Super Bowl.
I was a bit confused while watching this. Is it a phone? Is it a tablet? It seems even Samsung isn't sure what the Note really is. Turns out the Note is a phone/tablet hybrid, with – I'm not kidding you – a stylus...
ColoredKnob is a tweak that we covered in the past, and it was met with a fairly warm reception. We really liked it; in fact, the only thing holding us back from absolutely loving it was the limited amount of colors available in the initial release.
Apparently the developer heard our cries, because ColoredKnob has just been updated with a ton of new colors, making it much more appealing that it was before...
