Auki updated with new features and new developer API

Our favorite quick reply-enabling jailbreak tweak has been updated with quite a few new features, a brand new developer API, bug fixes, and much more. Auki version 1.3 is a fairly large update, the first of such since the Pangu jailbreak for iOS 7.1.x was released.

Designer Surenix and developer Benno provided us with a preview copy of Auki 1.3, and we've been testing it out for the last few hours. Have a look inside to see what's new.

Readdle updates Documents with background music, e-book reader, iPhone add-ons and more

Back in February, Ukrainian developer Readdle gave its Documents for iOS app a thorough makeover, adding features like a much polished iPad interface with iOS 7-friendly styling, in-app integration with other Readdle apps, a brand new file manager and much more.

Available today, the free Readdle Documents 5.1 download expands on the app's features set with further improvements.

If you import audio files into Documents, the app now lets you play music in the background so you can, say, read a PDF document as the music plays. Speaking of PDFs, the new Documents at last includes a full-featured e-book reader...

Foursquare refreshes Swarm with better check-ins, easier sharing and other enhancements

Foursquare, the popular location-based social networking service, back in May took all the gamified features out of its main iOS client - the mayorships, check-ins, leaderboards, achievements and what not - and created a new app around them, Swarm. As a result, the main Foursquare app is now focused on place discovery , not the check-ins.

The lightweight Swarm app makes it easy to see who’s out nearby, who’s doing what, who wants to hang out later and more. Today, the app has received a refresh bringing out several new features.

Now available to download in the App Store, Swarm 1.0.6 features better check-ins, friend leaderboards, easier sharing, more detailed information about places and more...

Samsung blames sluggish tablet sales, increased competition for Q2 earnings miss

Samsung today issued its earnings guidance for the second quarter of 2014, and in somewhat of an odd move, it attached a note to the document explaining why it will fall short of estimates. The company expects to see its profits drop for the third consecutive quarter.

The note details a number of factors, including the improving strength of the Korean won making exports more expensive, and exceedingly sluggish tablet sales. It also explains that it is running into greater competition in China from low-end device makers like Xiaomi...

Scratch test video shows durability of alleged 4.7-inch iPhone 6 sapphire cover

Hot on the heels of this morning's bend stress test video of an alleged iPhone 6 sapphire cover, comes a clip of a scratch test further showing the part's durability. YouTuber Marques Brownlee has gotten his hands on an alleged 4.7-inch iPhone 6 cover and put it through its paces.

In the video, Brownlee tries to snap the sapphire cover in half by bending it, but is unable to do so. He also takes a set of keys and even a large folding knife to the component in an effort to scratch the display cover, but again he is unsuccessful. We've posted the full video below...
