Download SkyFire Flash Converter for iPhone

It's here folks. SkyFire is now available for download in the App Store. It was supposed to be released on Thursday but I guess Apple couldn't wait to provide us with a Flash content converter.

In case you just woke up, SkyFire is a new application that will take Flash content and convert it into HTML5 so you can view it on your iPhone. As we said before, SkyFire won't be able to convert all Flash content. Hulu videos for example won't be able to be converted.

You can download SkyFire in the App Store for $2.99. If you do, please make sure to leave a comment and tell us all about it.

More Info About the iOS 4.2 Jailbreak

With the release of iOS 4.2 just around the corner, everyone is wondering when and what kind of jailbreak we'll be getting. Even though LimeRa1n and GreenPois0n can't supposedly be patched without hardware modification, the risk of getting a tethered jailbreak still remains.

Comex brought up a bit of clarification about the iOS 4.2 jailbreak in a series of tweets. There is some good and some bad news...

Flash on the iPhone Now Possible as Apple Approves SkyFire

The wait for a stable way to get Flash on the iPhone is almost over as Apple has quietly approved SkyFire, an app that was submitted about 2 months ago. SkyFire, which will be available on Thursday in the App Store is the first app of its kind to be approved by Apple.

I don't think I have to refresh your memory by explaining that Apple and Adobe's Flash aren't BFFs. Apple has made it pretty clear before they wouldn't not allow Flash on any iOS device. SkyFire goes around these restrictions to allow Flash content to be downloaded to their servers, then "translates" and renders the video into HTML5, which is supported by all iOS devices...

iOS 4.2 GM Can Be Jailbroken with RedSn0w

Apple released iOS 4.2 GM a few hours ago, and the word on the street is that you can already jailbreak it using the latest RedSn0w update. Like MuscleNerd suggested, unless you're a jailbreak app developer or unless you know exactly what you're doing, it might be a good idea to stay away from it.

Remember that updating your iPhone to iOS 4.2 GM might prevent you from unlocking your iPhone forever (most likely not, but you never know)...

Apple Releases iOS 4.2 GM – Real Deal to Come Soon

Apple just released iOS 4.2 Gold Master for iPad, iPhone, and iPod Touch. This basically is the pre-release version before the public one gets shipped. In other words, we should see the iOS 4.2 released to the public in just a few day.

I'm not sure yet if iOS 4.2 GM holds any surprise, but as always, make sure to stay away from it for the time being if you care a lot about your jailbreak/unlock.

Beautiful Marriage Proposal Filmed on iPhone

A few weeks ago we showed you the best/geekiest iPhone proposal ever, and it seems it has inspired people to propose while recording everything on their iPhone. This one is particularly cute and moving.

Now I just need to make sure my fiancee never sees that. What would I look like compared to this guy?

See the video below...

Wake Up! Your iPhone Wants You to Sleep in…

Here is an interesting bug found in iOS 4.1 for our fellow European iPhone users.

When switching between Daylight Savings Time and Standard Time, your iPhone actually figures out what time it really is where you are, and changes the clock accordingly. However, it doesn't change these settings for your alarm clock, which caused some Euros to be waken up an hour later than they were supposed to.

This first appeared in Australia a few weeks ago and even though Apple is aware of the bug, they still haven't released a fix for it yet. Engadget did a little bit of digging and here is what they found out:

iPhone Unlock for iOS 4.1 and 4.2 Coming Soon?

Here is an interesting tweet from MuscleNerd saying that "a very nice unlock" is coming soon. It doesn't take a genius to figure out the Dev Team already has an unlock ready for release but they're just waiting for Apple to ship iOS 4.2, sometimes in the next few days.

I assume this unlock will work for every device and will be compatible with iOS 4.1 and 4.2 basebands...

PwnageTool iPhone Jailbreak for Windows Coming Soon?

According to a tweet from MuscleNerd, iPhone jailbreak developer Chpwn will soon start working on a Windows version of the PwnageTool jailbreak. To date, PwnageTool is a Mac only jailbreak that allows you to update your iPhone to a jailbroken firmware while preserving the baseband so you can unlock your iPhone.

The news about PwnageTool for Windows came from an argument between MuscleNerd and iH8Sn0w on Twitter. I've never been a huge fan of iH8Sn0w and his Sn0wBreeze tool, and it seems that the Dev Team isn't either...

RedSn0w 0.9.6b2 Jailbreak for All Devices Now Available

The Dev Team just released RedSn0w 0.9.6b2, a new version of their famous jailbreak tool for Mac and Windows. What's new in RedSn0w 0.9.6b2? The most interesting news is that RedSn0w will now jailbreak all devices on iOS 4.1: iPhone 3G, iPhone 3GS, iPhone 4, iPad, iPod Touch 3G, iPod Touch 4G, and Apple TV.

Also new is the ability to have custom bootlogos on the iPhone 3G/3GS and iPod Touch 2G. Perhaps the most interesting new feature is the option that implements the DFU button in PwnageTool...

Is Apple Starting to Censor the Word “Gay” in the App Store?

We already knew that the app approval process could be somewhat random. Some apps that shouldn't be approved in the first place manage to show up in the App Store, while others that shouldn't have any problem are rejected, sometimes for false reasons. In the end, Apple is always right: their store, their rules, right?

But what if Apple decided to reject applications simply because they contain the word "gay"? It seems that's what the developer of a gay networking app has discovered while submitting his application for review...
