If you've played Angry Birds before, you probably wondered a few things about the story behind the game. Who are these birds? Who are these pigs? Why are they stealing birds' eggs? And maybe more importantly, why can't these birds fly?
You're not the only one having questions about Angry Birds. In this video, you'll see that an Angry Bird himself is wondering about the purpose of this game. It's funny and really worth 40 seconds of your time...
My cousin jut got his first iPhone a few months ago and he's what I'd call a total noob about it. A couple days ago when we were in Vegas, he asked me how to email a photo he had taken with his iPhone. I couldn't help laughing at him but I quickly realized that if he didn't know how to do that, there's probably other people out there in the same situation, which is why I thought it'd be a good thing to write up a quick tip about this.
Obviously, this is a tip for beginners. If you've had an iPhone for a while, you most likely already know how to do that.
In this post, I'll show you 3 ways to email pictures from your iPhone...
Those of you who recently unlocked their iPhones running iOS 4.2.1 or 4.1 know that the process wasn't as straightforward as we expected. The latest UltraSn0w unlock works for the iPhone 3G or iPhone 3GS with baseband 04.26.08, 05.11.07, 05.12.01, or 05.13.04. It also works with iPhone 4 with baseband 01.59.00. But if you're iPhone is on a different baseband, you have to upgrade to 06.15.00, either using RedSn0w or PwnageTool.
This new unlock doesn't come without its share of issues, with battery drain for some of us, and/or GPS issues for others. Fortunately, it seems the Dev Team is working on a baseband downgrade method, which would make the unlock process easier, and safer...
Speaking of the unicorn white iPhone 4, a new official document by Apple shows that it might still launch in the Spring of 2011, as previously stated by the company. 9 to 5 Mac revealed yesterday some of the new signage you can see in Apple Stores around the country, clearly stating "the white iPhone 4 will be available Spring 2011".
At this point, I personally don't believe we'll ever get a white iPhone 4 at all. I might be wrong but I don't see Apple releasing it just months before announcing the iPhone 5. I guess time will tell...
This is a summary of the most popular articles that were published on the blog this past week. Ok, I cheated a little bit, there are actually 12 articles in this list...
UltraSn0w unlock for iOS 4.2.1 available How to prepare your iPhone 4.2.1 for unlock with PwnageTool How to prepare your iPhone 4.2.1 for unlock with RedSn0w How to unlock iPhone 4.2.1 with UltraSn0w How to downgrade iPhone 4.2.1 How to put your iPhone in DFU mode 5 tips for boosting your iPhone resale value Guy walks into a bar, finds a white iPhone 4 Cydia gets an update, now much faster How to get the new and improved Cydia Angry Birds plush toys now available How to replace an icon on your iPhone
Cydia. Love it or hate it, it's one of the pillars of the jailbreak community. When Cydia acquired Rock a few months ago, Saurik made the promise that he would work on improving Cydia's speed, which, let's be honest, leaves a lot to be desired.
So we knew for a while that it was being worked on by Saurik and Chpwn, but with the release of the recent jailbreak for iOS 4.2.1, we've had a taste of where Cydia is going, and I like that a lot.
While the changes in the new release of Cydia aren't much "esthetically visible" as most of it happens under the hood, if you have the new Cydia on your iPhone, you must have noticed some speed improvement...
It's getting increasingly harder and risky to unlock the iPhone. Proof is with the recent release of the UltraSn0w unlock for iOS 4.2.1, 4.1, and 4.0.2, which require you to update your iPhone baseband to 06.15.00 in order to be able to unlock.
As reported by many unlockers and officially confirmed by the Dev Team, there is an issue with baseband 06.15.00 which might cause your GPS to not function properly, if at all. While some users are able to get their iPhone GPS to work, others are experiencing problems...
As we reported earlier this week, some of you who have recently updated your baseband to 06.15.00 to jailbreak and unlock have been facing battery drains issues. The problem doesn’t actually come from UltraSn0w or RedSn0w, but from the hacktivation process, for those of you who have hacktivated instead of activating the phone with an official carrier.
The issue comes from iOS 4.1 and 4.2.1 which constantly look for valid push certificates, either via wifi or your data plan (Edge or 3G). This runs down you battery and may even cause your iPhone to overheat. If you didn't hacktivate your iPhone but simply activated it with an official carrier (ie AT&T in the US), you shouldn't have any problem.
If on the other end you did hacktivate your iPhone, you might be experiencing the battery drain issue. Fortunately, there is now a fix for it...
The Dev Team has just released an update to their RedSn0w jailbreak, which is now at its version 0.9.6b6. This update was released following the battery drain issue experienced by some iPhone users who had unlocked using UltraSn0w.
This battery drain problem was encountered by those of you who updated the iPhone baseband to 06.15.00 in order to unlock. A fix has now been worked out. You can find this fix here...
Needless to say that we at iDB are big fans of Angry Birds, these cute and addictive birds that are putting their lives on the line to fight the evil green pigs. We had been waiting for those Angry Birds plush toys for a while, and they are now available for sale, at least while supplies last.
Looking at the website where you can buy them, I have to admit that I am slightly disappointed by their looks though. Maybe even more disappointing is the fact that they won't ship until January 2011. So much for surprising my fiancee with one of those for Christmas...
Apple loves to use and impose new standards for their products. That's why you need a micro SIM in order to use an iPad 3G or the iPhone 4.
If like me you travel a lot and get SIM cards in various countries to use in your unlocked iPhone 4, you're going to need a SIM card cutter, as most carriers aren't offering micro SIMs, especially for pay-as-you-go plans.
Sure you could do this yourself, but do you really want to take the risk of messing up your SIM card? If not, then a SIM card cutter is your best bet...
