There's one song that is coming to my mind right now: Waiting in Vain, by Bob Marley. Maybe I've got this song stuck in my head because I'm going to Jamaica next week, or maybe because it really seems to be the story behind the iPhone 4 unlock.

A month ago we were told that we'd get an unlock for the iPhone 4 by January 16th, which was the Dev Team's priority. Now a tweet from MuscleNerd giving an "official statement" about the unlock, confirming that it will not be released before iOS 4.3 comes out, most likely next month...

Yesterday we told you about Geohot being sued by Sony for jailbreaking the PlayStation 3. Yes, even though jailbreaking your iPhone is legal, it still isn't to jailbreak a PlayStation.

Geohot was a guest on Attack of the Attack of the Show today. For a few minutes, you can see Geohot candidly talking about hacking, jailbreaking and more. This is not completely related to the iPhone but when someone like Geohot gets on camera, well, you just watch and listen...

Unofficial PwnageTool Jailbreak for iPhone 4 iOS 4.3 Beta

It didn't take long. Apple seeded iOS 4.3 beta to developers yesterday and the iPhone 4 version has already been jailbroken, using an unofficial release of PwnageTool. This unofficial release will let you restore to a jailbroken iOS 4.3 version on iPhone 4 only.

I don't recommend using this method. For one, it will update your baseband, thus making it impossible for you to unlock for the time being. Additionally, this method has not proven very successful to many users, making it a risky move. Ultimately, it's your decision, but at least you've been warned...

Apple Seeds iOS 4.3 Beta to Developers

A day after tales of the new iOS 4.3 came out touting the merits of the new Personal Hotspot feature, mostly due to the release of the Verizon iPhone, Apple started seeding iOS 4.3 beta to developers.

This pre-release version of iOS 4.3 is for iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch, as well as for the Apple TV. Hopefully this new iOS will have a few surprises for us. More to come soon...

iPhone Hacker Geohot Sued by Sony for Jailbreaking the PlayStation 3

We usually don't cover anything that is not related to the iPhone but I thought this piece of news was interesting enough to share with you. Apparently, wonder boy Geohot, the kid behind BlackRa1n, LimeRa1n, and more is being sued by Sony for jailbreaking the PS3 along with the fail0verflow team, a group of hackers dedicated that focus their efforts on Sony's PlayStation.

Sony basically claims that jailbreaking the PS3 is illegal because it facilitates game piracy. Geohot posted the Motion for Temporary Restraining Order as well as the Proposed Order on his website...

I guess the most exciting thing about the Verizon iPhone's announcement this morning was the fact that you will be able to use your iPhone as a hotspot for up to 5 devices. This means you'll be able to turn your Verizon iPhone into a hotspot and share your Internet connection with up to 5 devices around you.

Sounds great, right? It is great. Not so great is that the pricing information has been left aside and no one at Verizon deemed it necessary to let people know how much this great feature will cost...

What a Verizon iPhone Means for AT&T

I've seen the same question being asked over and over again on Twitter and in the comments here, so I figured it'd be a good idea to clarify things up a little bit. Many of you are confused about Verizon getting the iPhone. Does that mean AT&T will lose the iPhone? Absolutely not.

AT&T will not lose the iPhone. Come June, Apple will unveil a new iPhone and this iPhone will be available on both AT&T and Verizon. Up until today, AT&T had the exclusivity of the iPhone, meaning they were the only carrier allowed to sell it in the US. Today, this exclusivity came to an end and Apple decided to add an additional carrier in the US...

Jailbreak and Unlock Coming to the Verizon iPhone?

One of the first questions that might have come to your mind after the announcement of the Verizon iPhone this morning probably was: can you jailbreak the Verizon iPhone? Can you unlock it? That's something we obviously can't know for sure until our favorite Team of iPhone hackers get their hands on one of those babies.

However, I would assume that the jailbreaking process for the Verizon iPhone might not be different from AT&T's. I assume the iOS loaded will have the very same backbones, even though iOS for Verizon will include extra features such as the ability to use your iPhone as a hotspot...
