How Will the iPad 2 Be Named?

We've been talking about the iPad 2 for while now, or at least we've heard rumors about it, but there's one thing we haven't speculated about: it's name. We all call it iPad 2 but do you really think Apple didn't come up with something a little more original for such a flagship product?

Early reports and leaks claim that the iPad 2 will be much thinner. Could it then be named "iPad Air"? If I had to take a guess, I'd say the name of the iPad 2 will actually be "iPad II". It's pronounced the same but it's spelled differently.

What do you think? Can you predict the name of the iPad 2?

Apple Getting Ready for iPad 2 Announcement

Apple is working on prettying up San Francisco’s Yerba Buena Center where it will unveil the iPad 2 next Wednesday. These pictures from 9to5Mac show the banners being hung on the walls.

Besides introducing the iPad 2, Apple will most likely release iOS 4.3, give us a sneak peak at iOS 5, and maybe give us an update about the mythical white iPhone 4.

How to Make Your iPhone 4 Look Like the Original iPhone

Feeling a bit nostalgic about the iPhone 2G? Rejoice because today is the day where you can turn your iPhone 4 into an original iPhone. Well, kinda. The folks at iStickr have created a decal for iPhone that replicates the look and feel of the back of the iPhone 2G with aluminum finish.

That's probably as close as you'll get to an iPhone 2G, and this for just about $10...

The $500 ZAGGsparq Giveaway

Following our review of the ZAGGsparq yesterday, the folks at ZAGG decided to give 5 of them away to iDB readers. That's a total value of about $500. Not bad, not bad at all.

So who are the 5 lucky winners going to be? The rules are pretty simple. Just leave a comment below and explain us why you should win a ZAGGsparq. But that's not all, you can score some extra points and increase your chances of winning...

Pretty Up Your iPhone SMS App with ChatPic

Here is an app that shouldn't even exist in the first place as Apple should have implemented it in iOS. ChatPic is a new jailbreak app that will show address book photos next to text messages in the SMS app.

For ChatPic to work, you obviously need to add a photo to your contacts, then whenever they text you, you will see their face next to the chat bubble...

ZAGGsparq Review: the Best Portable Battery Available

As a frequent traveler and an iPhone addict, I always worry to run out of batteries in an airport or worse, in the middle of a flight. I've tried various options for making sure I would never run out of juice but I never found the right accessory that would fulfill my needs: convenience, ease of use, light weight.

That was until the peeps at Zagg sent me a review copy of their ZAGGsparq, a 2-in-1, or maybe I should say a 3-in-1 accessory for iPhone, iPad, iPod Touch, and virtually any smartphone out there, but we'll obviously focus on the iPhone part...

iPad 2 to Be Unveiled on March 2

We've heard our fair share of iPad 2 rumors lately, the craziest one being that its release was going to be postponed until June.

Today comes another rumor that I believe to be true. Kara Swisher, one of my least favorite tech writers, announced today on her blog that it seemed clear Apple would announce the iPad next week in San Francisco.

According to several sources close to the situation, the Wednesday date in a little more than a week is firm and will take place in San Francisco, the scene of many such Apple events.

Steve Jobs currently being on a leave of absence, I doubt he will be introducing the new iPad.

Hungry Birds! Get Ready for the Angry Birds Cake

You don't know how to make your kid happy for his birthday? What about making him a Angry Birds cake? That's what this dad decided to do for his 6 year old son's birthday.

Solely using a chocolate cake, tons of icing, and caramel wafers, he built an entire playable level of Angry Birds. This is quite amazing and entertaining to say the least. Check out the video below to see Hungry Birds in action...

Dear Apple, Please Don’t Make a Cheap iPhone

Last week a rumor started spreading around the interwebs saying that Apple was to unveil an iPhone Nano. That wasn't a new rumor as we had already heard that before but the fact that the news came from the WSJ gave it street credentials.

Then the rumor was debunked by the NY Times who claimed that Apple wasn't looking into making an iPhone Nano, but was looking into making a cheaper iPhone. When I first read about that, I thought I was in my worst nightmare: a world of cheap Apple products...
