Apple Releases iTunes 10.5 Beta 5

Along with the release of iOS 5 Beta 5 earlier today, Apple released the latest beta version of iTunes, iTunes 10.5 Beta 5.

If you're not going to update your device to iOS 5 Beta 5 over-the-air, Apple recommends you first update via iTunes 10.5 Beta 4, and then update to iTunes 10.5 Beta 5.

Confused? Then read the following release notes:

Apple Releases iOS 5 Beta 5

Roughly two weeks after releasing iOS 5 Beta 4, Apple just unleashed iOS 5 Beta 5 minutes ago.

According to Apple, in order to install iOS 5 beta 5 over-the-air, you will first have to backup your device through iCloud. Then delete everything on your device by going to Settings > General > Reset > Erase All Content and then Settings. Finally, start the over-the-air update by going to Settings > General > Software Update.

The Worst iPhone Case Ever

We've seen our fair share of weird and creepy iPhone accessories, but this one might reach a new height. Coming from Japan, let me introduce you to the Hand Case.

We don't know much about this case. I can't tell you where you can get it or how much it costs, but that shouldn't be too much of an issue as I doubt you'd be interested in buying it anyway...

Clear Your iOS App Icons Badges with BadgeClear

BadgleClear is a new jailbreak application, and I'd put in the same category as No Badges and No Folder Badges. Just like its name implies, BadgeClear will clean up your iPhone or iPad apps icons badge notifications at the tap of a button.

Unlike the 2 apps mentioned above, BadgeClear actually lets you choose what badges you want to clear up. Simply bring your icons to wiggle mode (tap and hold), then tap any badges you wish to remove. BadgeClear will even clean out all the icon badges inside Folders if you tap a Folder's badge...

Chinese Military Bypasses Apple and Releases a Jailbreak App

People's Liberation Army (PLA), aka the unified military organization of China, has been under scrutiny for the past few years for being the second largest military in the world in terms of budget, right behind the US.

To relieve stress from neighboring countries and also the rest of the world, the PLA thought it wouldn't be a bad idea to be more transparent about its military capabilities and intentions, and so they decided to create an iPhone application.

This news itself is interesting, but maybe the most interesting part is that the app will not be available on the App Store. It will only be available on jailbroken devices...

Jan-Michael Cart, the graphic artist who already brought us a bunch of very appealing iOS 5 concepts, is at the top of his game once again with this iOS 5 Notification Center concept.

In this short video, Cart demonstrates various improvements made to Notification Center, including persistent badges, widgets, collapsible notifications, and incoming calls notifications (similar to CallBar)...

Good news for those of you who love boobs and Angry Birds. You can now combine the two together, thanks to the amazing work of an artsy seller on Etsy.com.

One More Thing that Makes an iPhone an iPhone

Apple just slightly edited 2 TV ads, showcasing several applications, including Apple's own iPod and iTunes app. The concept of the ad remains the same as the ones that recently aired.

These 2 ads originally aired in April, but Apple decided to refurbish them by slightly changing the ending tagline. The previous ads ended with "If you don't have an iPhone, well, you don't have an iPhone." These new ads end with "Just one more thing that makes an iPhone an iPhone..."

iPhone 5 Currently Being Tested by Carriers

With conflicting rumors reports that the iPhone 5 may be launched in September or October, the only thing we know for sure at this time is that there will be an iPhone 5 this year, and it's going to be big! When exactly this iPhone 5 will be released is a mystery.

If there is an indication of things moving along, it may be this report from The Guardian that claims that carriers have received sample versions of the iPhone 5 in order to test them on their network...

iPad 2 Now Ships Within 24 Hours

For the first time since its launch in the US, the iPad 2 is now shipping within 24 hours. Soon after its official release in the US, the iPad wouldn't ship under 2 weeks. It got slightly better over time, and shipping time finally got cut to 1-3 days a couple weeks ago.

With the rumor of an iPad 3 floating around, it might be a wise thing to hold on to your iPad at this time. The iPad 3 might very well be better as a more expensive "pro" version, but if I were you, I'd wait to see what Apple is up to...

Forbes Highlights Jailbreak Hacker Comex

If you've ever considered jailbreaking your iPhone or iPad, no doubt you've heard about an iOS hacker going by the handle Comex, the guy who discovered several important exploits, and the creator of JailbreakMe.

Besides his Twitter handle, we don't know much about Comex. A Forbes journalist did a bit of digging and found out who Comex really is, and managed to talk to him...
