Evasi0n7 1.0.3 is out with support for iOS 7.1 beta 3, Retina iPad mini boot loop fix

Evasi0n 7 1.0.3 has just been released for OS X and Windows with a fix for the boot loop issue that has been plaguing Retina iPad mini users. The release, which is the fourth of the jailbreak tool, also includes support for iOS 7.1 beta 3 and a new Cydia bundle.

Those already successfully running evasion7 1.0.2 on their devices do not have to update, but those having problems with their Retina iPad mini (I believe cellular models are the problem) or those wanting to update to iOS 7 beta 3 may want to check it out...

Apple has named Namco Bandai’s classic PAC-MAN game its App of the Week for this week. This means that through next Thursday, you’ll be able to pick up the application for both your iPhone and iPad, for free—a sizable savings of $7.

For those unfamiliar with the game, it's essentially an iOS port of the popular arcade game that first debuted in 1980. In it, you navigate a tiny character around various mazes while trying to eat pellets and fruit and avoid deadly ghosts...

iPhone 6 said to feature 8MP camera again with improved image stabilization

Although the iPhone 5s has only been out for about 4 months now, next-gen iPhone rumors are already ramping up. The handset, believed (for right now, anyway) to be called the iPhone 6, has been widely reported to feature a larger display and other improvements.

Today, a new report from China adds to the chatter by claiming that Apple's next smartphone should see some camera improvements such as enhanced optical image stabilization. It also calls for the handset to retain the current 8-megapixel sensor for its iSight camera...

Apple discounts iPhones, iPads and more in Lunar New Year Sale

As promised, Apple kicked its 'Red Friday' sales event off today in several Asian countries to celebrate the Lunar New Year. Unlike the recent Black Friday event it held here in the US, Apple is offering cash discounts on its products—not gift cards.

Also different is the fact that the Red Friday promotion includes price cuts on all current iPhone models and the new Retina iPad mini. Apple doesn't usually discount its handsets, as they are extremely popular and provide (by far) the largest margins...

Apple, Samsung CEOs agree to mediation ahead of patent trial

According to new paperwork filed earlier this afternoon, Apple and Samsung have agreed to attend a mediation session next month ahead of their second major US patent trial, which is slated to begin on March 31.

The meeting is to take place on or before February 19, and is to be attended by Tim Cook, Samsung's Oh-Hyun Kwon and their respective in-house lawyers. And they will attempt to discuss settlement opportunities...

AT&T raised more than a few eyebrows on Monday when it announced a new 'Sponsored Data' program. The goal of the program is essentially to offer a way for companies to pick up the tab for 4G data usage whenever specific products or services are being used.

Last month, T-Mobile's John Legere hinted that his company was planning another 'uncarrier' event. The outspoken CEO sent out a tweet saying something like "time to eliminate another customer pain point? Time for Uncarrier 4?"

There's been no shortage of iPhone cases trying to think outside the box at CES this year. We've seen cases from OtterBox that are both thin and protective, a backup battery and storage case from Mophie, and now we have a new one to share.

This is the Sensus case, from Canopy, and its big standout feature is that it adds pressure-sensing strips to the sides and back of any iPhone 5 or 5s. These strips essentially add an extra method of input for navigating apps or playing games...

Great news for biteSMS fans with late-model iPhones this morning. BiteSMS 8.0 beta 7 has been released to the public, and in addition to a handful of bug fixes and user interface improvements, the update brings about support for the iPhone 5s.

The beta has actually been out for almost two weeks now, but due to complications with the 64-bit A7 processor, it has thus far been limited to older devices. That changes today though, and now 5s users can finally enjoy the biteSMS app on iOS 7...
