iPhone Nano Concept – “Squeeze” to Close Apps

There have been multiple rumors surfacing lately that Apple is working on a smaller iPhone "Nano." The device is rumored to have a smaller form factor and use cloud-based storage (possibly in accordance with a revamp of MobileMe).

iPhone Nano concepts have been floating around since the rumors gained traction, and a design concept by Max Rudberg stands out from the rest. Max runs Max Themes, and has developed popular jailbreak themes (such as Glasklart and Serious SBSettings).

Max came up with a very interesting concept for how a smaller iPhone Nano could operate without a home button...

Firewall iP 2.0 Released in Cydia, A Security Center for the iPhone

Privacy on the iPhone has always been an interesting topic. Especially in the jailbreak scene, security precautions are taken very seriously.

Firewall iP recently received a major update in the Cydia store, and it boasts robust security options for your iPhone's network connections. While its features may seem daunting to those of us that aren't security aficionados, it's nice to see that there's a full-featured security suite for jailbreak users...

Verizon Offering Monthly Discount and a $200 Rebate for the iPhone with FIOS Purchase

Verizon is using the iPhone for some cross promotion. Big Red is welcoming potential iPhone customers by offering a $200 rebate towards the iPhone with the purchase of Verizon's FIOS bundle. Customers will also receive a $5-$20 monthly discount on their plan with the purchase of FIOS.

Verizon has also updated its free FIOS DVR app for the iPhone, giving iPhone users another reason to use FIOS TV. If you're interested in what Verizon has to offer, these new discounts certainly sweeten the deal...

Apple Launches App Store Subscriptions for iOS

In a surprising move, Apple has launched its App Store subscription service without a co-release of iOS 4.3. In-app subscriptions will allow content producers to easily deliver content with a reoccurring purchase model, instead of a one-time, à la carte purchase system.

It was assumed that Apple would introduce its subscription service during a press event, but apparently a press release on Apple's website was all the announcement deserved.

Rupert Murdoch's "The Daily" news app was the first official peek at what Apple's subscription service would look like, but The Daily has been offered for free since its release. At the end of this month, The Daily will begin its paid subscriptions with Apple's new infrastructure...

Verizon vs AT&T, Comparing Data Speeds on the iPhone

Now that Verizon carries the iPhone 4 on its CDMA network, there is a new way to compare iPhone data speeds with AT&T's infrastructure.

People have been comparing the Verizon and AT&T iPhone's data speeds, and CNET has posted a very detailed comparison of how the two networks compete with each other on the iPhone. The results weren't that surprising; Verizon seemed to do better than AT&T in almost every way...

Rumor: iPhone Nano Will Be Totally Cloud-Based

Rumors regarding the mysterious "iPhone Nano" have been surfacing everywhere lately. Speculation started gaining some traction last week, with a report from Bloomberg saying that Apple has been working on a smaller and cheaper version of the iPhone.

The Wall Street Journal recently corroborated and added some details to Bloomberg's report. According to the WSJ, the "iPhone Nano" will be considerably smaller than the current iPhone and heavily rely on Apple's MobileMe service.

More rumors have emerged regarding the iPhone Nano...

Everything You Need to Know About “Safe Mode” on a Jailbroken iPhone

Did you know that the iPhone had a "Safe Mode?" Safe Mode on the iPhone has been apart of jailbreaking for years now, but many people still don't understand it. If your iPhone is jailbroken, Safe Mode will be invoked when MobileSubstrate (the Cydia support framework) crashes.

Desktop operating systems, like Windows and Mac OS X, have had a "Safe Mode" for a long time. On the desktop, safe mode is used for removing corrupted processes that may be causing the operating system to not function properly.

The iPhone has a "Safe Mode" for that exact same reason. A simple Cydia app called "Safe Mode Launcher" allows you to invoke the iPhone's Safe Mode with one tap. Let's take a look...

Try a New Kind of Task Management With ‘Time Flies’ for iPhone

Creating a good task manager app is not an easy feat. I'm fascinated by innovative productivity apps (check out our roundup of 5 awesome task managers for the iPhone), and I get excited when I hear about a new, unique task management app.

99% of task managers serve the purpose of either the present or the future. Some apps go super minimal and only let you create tasks for a single, non-time specific list. Other more robust apps allow you to queue and delegate your tasks into time frames such as due dates.

But what about the past? When a task is done, it is usually archived into a logbook, never to be seen again. "Time Flies," by Absent Design, demonstrates that there is value to be gleamed from our completed tasks...

Both games have had great success in the App Store, and both titles have created brands that people love. In fact, people love them enough to create amazing real life reenactments of the actual gameplay...

AT&T Offering Free “Mobile to Any Mobile” Calling for Customers

Verizon has been stealing attention away from the iPhone's original carrier, and it looks like AT&T is doing all it can to keep disgruntled customers from jumping ship.

500,000+ Verizon iPhones have already been pre-ordered, and the device just became available for purchase on Apple's site.

Needless to say, AT&T is definitely feeling the heat from its new competition, and it's doing everything it can to ensure that customers don't cross over to the dark side...

Have You Confessed Your Sins? There’s an App for That.

Have you gotten lazy with your confessions? Good news for you: the Catholic Church has approved an iPhone app that will help you confess your sins!

It appears the Pope has realized that less and less people are attending confessional regularly. So, in a move of forward thinking, the Catholic Church decided to help your forgetfulness by giving you an app to track your sins.

And before you stop reading: no, this is not a joke...
