Phoenix redesigns the Phone app on jailbroken iPhones to be more aesthetically pleasing

All iPhone users have the native Phone app pre-installed on their device from the factory. It’s the primary means of placing outgoing phone calls, whether you’re choosing from your contact list or dialing a phone number the manual way. But if one thing’s certain, it’s that the Phone app hasn’t changed much over the years.

Despite all the jailbreak tweaks in existence that can make the Phone app better, iOS developer SouthernGirlWhoCode of titand3v wanted to turn things up a notch, and has successfully done so with the release of a brand-new jailbreak tweak called Phoenix.

So what does Phoenix do? In a nutshell, it brings a complete redesign of the Phone app’s contact list. Among the things it offers are aesthetically beautiful reworks of the favorite and recent contact cell styles, cover images in the contact details list, and a bevy of other configurations that weren’t possible before the release of Phoenix.

In the screenshot examples above, you can see just how incredible the redesign looks, and it’ll have you wondering why Apple’s design team has been so stagnant lately with respect to redesigns. Not only does it provide bold preview of each of your contact’s primary contact details, but it emphasizes grouped contacts, such as family members, with easier ways to contact them by way of action buttons. And why stop there? You can even set a cover image for each contact.

Phoenix is highly configurable, and a dedicated preference pane will be added to the Settings app where users can configure it to their liking:

Options here include:

  • Hide or show favorite contacts in the Phone app contact lists
  • Enable or disable haptic feedback
  • Configure a custom Phone app accent color
  • Configure a custom call action button color
  • Configure a custom message action button color
  • Configure a custom email action button color
  • Configure a custom delete contact action button color

If you’re rocking a jailbroken iPhone with cellular service and you haven’t downloaded Phoenix yet, then all I can say is you’re missing out. The aesthetics offered by Phoenix check all the boxes and put Apple’s native aesthetics to shame. If that wasn’t enough to sway you, Phoenix also offers enhanced contact sorting with a better cell layout as to put more emphasis on your favorite people.

Those interested in trying Phoenix out for themselves candownload Phoenix for free from the Hyperixa repository via their favorite package manager. We should also note that Phoenix supports all jailbroken iOS 13 and 14 devices.

If you’re not already using the Hyperixa repository, then you can add it to your package manager app of choice via the following URL:
