Control Center is one of the interfaces I use the most often on my iPhone, and while I applaud Apple for having an all-in-one command center for toggles and shortcuts, that doesn’t stop me from thinking that the design is beginning to look stale and that it’s a bit light on features.
A new jailbreak tweak called Prysm designed by thetimeloop and brought to life by iOS developer LaughingQuoll aims to resolve some of these gripes by giving Control Center a complete aesthetic overhaul and adding useful features to the interface while maintaining compatibility with other Control Center-centric add-ons for jailbroken handsets.
The screenshot example above is worth a thousand words and will help you discern for yourself just how stunning Control Center looks after installing Prysm on your jailbroken handset.
The first thing you’ll notice is that Control Center is moved down closer to the bottom of the display, making it much easier to use with just one hand. But more importantly, the interface looks absolutely gorgeous with horizontal brightness and volume sliders and a rounded aesthetic with a new battery level indicator that conforms well with iOS 13’s general design.
It’s also worth noting that Prysm is fully interactive with support for Haptic Touch on individual toggles or shortcuts, providing you with a beautiful interface even as you interact with fine-grained controls via Control Center.
Once installed, users will find a dedicated preference pane in the Settings app where they can configure Prism to their liking:
Here, you can:
- Toggle Prysm on or off on demand
- Choose whether Prysm presents itself from the top or bottom of your display
- Choose your preferred gesture:
- Stock Control Center gesture
- Lower Left
- Lover Right
- Both
- Configure the sensitivity of the gesture activation area
- Configure a preferred interface corner radius
- Hide or show the floating battery level
- Hide or show indicators
- Configure your preferred widget layout:
- Left
- Right
- Split
- Reorganize Prysm’s module layout
- Enable or disable an alternative button layout
- Toggle rounded sliders on or off on demand
- Toggle slider haptics on or off on demand
- Toggle static glyphs on or off on demand
- Toggle percent labels in the sliders on or off on demand
- Hide the media module when there’s no music playing
- Show a media progress bar in the interface
- Choose how many scrollable toggle pages there will be:
- 1
- 2
- 3
The developer includes a Respring button at the bottom of the preference pane that helps you save any changes you make to Prysm on demand.
Prysm is currently available to purchase for $3.49 in the Packix repository via your preferred package manager, and it has received oodles of praise from testers throughout the past month of beta testing. Given what we’re looking at here, we can only agree with the positive feedback. Prysm supports jailbroken iOS 11, 12, 13, and 14 devices.
