Remember back before November of 2021 when YouTube had a functioning Dislike button so that viewers could actually express themselves when content wasn’t to their satisfaction? Yeah we do too…

But YouTube removed that functionality so that users could only Like a video or comment on it. Subsequently, a jailbreak tweak called Return YouTube Dislike by iOS developers PoomSmart and kirb was released to bring the Dislike button back to the app.

However, this change affected more than just the YouTube app; it also carried over to the YouTube Music app, which is why these same developers have just released a new jailbreak tweak called Return YouTube Music Dislike.

Just like the original jailbreak tweak, Return YouTube Music Dislike sets out to revive the now axed Dislike button in the YouTube Music app. This means that users can Dislike anything they listen to in the YouTube Music app and see other users’ dislikes.

As noted in the tweak’s depiction, Return YouTube Music Dislike uses the same database as the Return YouTube Dislike tweak. It shares an 11-digit video viewing identifier that will be used to record your Dislike and to retrieve the existing Dislike count so that it can be displayed properly on your device. The full details below:

The tweak accesses the Return YouTube Dislike database. The 11-digit identifier of videos you watch will be shared with the Return YouTube Dislike server in order to retrieve dislike count data.

The tweak additionally allows you to send like/dislike data to their database. Tap your profile icon at the top-right, tap “Settings”, then “Return YouTube Music Dislike”, then enable the “Enable vote submission” option.

Return YouTube Dislike is also available on Mac and PC via web browser extensions, such as those offered for Google Chrome. Combined, this allows the YouTube Dislike server to record a wider audience of dislikes and display them for more users in the absence of YouTube’s native Dislike button.

If you’re interested in giving Return YouTube Music Dislike a try, then you can download it for free from the Chariz repository via your favorite package manager app. The tweak supports the latest version of the YouTube Music app on jailbroken devices at the time of this writing, but future updates may break the tweak. This is just something to be aware of.
