Transcribe, Mayday, Stash, and other apps to check out this weekend

It’s Veterans Day, so I want to say thank you for your service to all of our veterans, and it’s also the weekend! This means it’s time for another edition of our Apps of the Week roundup, and you can bet we have some great picks for you this week. There’s an app that makes transcribing any audio quick and painless, there’s an AI-infused calendar app that wants to be your personal assistant, and an app for tracking video games. And as always, we’ve selected a fun game for you to check out.

Transcribe – Speech to Text

Typically when we talk about transcription apps, we are talking about apps in which you speak and it turns your speech into text. But that’s not the case with Transcribe. Here you just need to point the app to an audio or video file, and before you know it, all of the dialogue will be typed out. The app utilizes OpenAI’s Whisper and Apple’s Neural Engine to make transcription quick, painless, and accurate. The transcribing can happen in the cloud or on device, and there is support for 90+ languages. I know what I’m doing this weekend: transcribing my full Adam Sandler movie collection.

Mayday: The Calendar Assistant

Mayday is an AI-Assisted Calendar that gives you control over your schedule. Hmm…you think they call it Mayday because that is what we will all be saying when AI rises up and takes over? I’m [sorta] kidding. Anyway Mayday promises to help protect your time by analyzing your calendar and scheduling patterns in order to determine when the ideal time for different types of events and tasks will be. It supports Google Calendar, Google Meets, Microsoft and other platforms, and it’s packed with features like Smart Tag Automations. Look, if you’re cool with AI knowing your every move, Mayday certainly seems like a helpful app.

Stash – Video Game Manager

Stash is an app that will help you manage your video game collection. With it you can keep track of the games you have played, as well as games you want to play. Features include wish lists, alerts for new releases, trailers, and more. Discover new titles with curated lists like latest game releases, upcoming releases, top rated games, and best game series. You can also review games you’ve played, and read others’ reviews for a full crowd-sourcing experience. Hey if you play enough games that you need help keeping track of all of them, and you don’t already have a tracking app, check out Stash.

Tiny Connections

Tiny Connections is a puzzle game that challenges players to create networks connecting houses with infrastructure in tight spaces. In this engaging game, your mission is to make sure each home gets essential services like power and water, all while balancing efficiency and community wellbeing. Admittedly, this is a little more complex of a game than I am used to—making birds fly by tapping the screen is more my speed—but this game looks great and it is just loaded with features like real-world maps, daily and weekly challenges, abundant power ups and more.
