RootHide is a beta project that hides your rootless jailbreak from apps

One of the problems that plagues iPhone and iPad jailbreaks is that App Store apps can implement what’s known as jailbreak detection and then refuse to open or work properly until you unjailbreak your device. For this reason, jailbreak detection bypasses are a hot commodity among jailbreakers, but they tend to be hit or miss, depending on who you ask.

A new project being called RootHide is currently in beta testing aims to completely hide your rootless jailbreak from any of your installed apps. The project has already checked many of the boxes in its progress checklist, with only a few more to spare, suggesting that it’s nearing completion and could soon be released to the general public.

So what does RootHide actually do? It prevents your apps from being able to tell you’re jailbroken. Those apps that try to detect your jailbreak won’t be able to, and according to beta testers who’ve been using it, it works well.

One thing worth noting, however, is that RootHide doesn’t yet support jailbreak tweaks, which means that when you enable the add-on for certain apps, you won’t be able to access your jailbreak tweaks in those apps. Getting around this quandary will require some effort, but once achieved, it’ll be a game changer.

RootHide is currently intended for the rootless Dopamine jailbreak for arm64e (A12-A15) devices running iOS & iPadOS 15.0-15.4.1. Citing the notes in the project’s GitHub page, it should be adaptable to virtually any rootless jailbreak, regardless of what version of iOS or iPadOS version it’s intended for.

Sadly, it seems unlikely that something like this will ever come to rootful jailbreaks, but that’s to be expected given the nature of rootful jailbreaks.

In any case, this looks like a great project that could benefit a lot of people, especially if it manages to incorporate jailbreak tweak support. It will be interesting to see what happens as development continues.
