Sileo updated to v2.5 with preliminary iOS 17 support, optional analytics, and new icons

The Sileo Team is out with a new update for the Sileo package manager on Thursday, this time bringing the public release up to version 2.5.

Sileo Team lead developer Amy While announced the update via Twitter Thursday afternoon, and from what we can gather based on the GitHub page’s change log, users can expect Sileo version 2.0 to incorporate the following changes:

  • Adds Dopamine, palera1n and Cookie icon by @flowerible
  • Adds opt-in Canister analytics, user will be shown a prompt on first launch, by @elihwyma
  • Adds support for iOS 17 jailbreaks by @TheMasterOfMike

As you can probably tell for yourself, Sileo version 2.5 is a relatively minor update that enhances the jailbreak on Dopamine and palera1n devices. One of the major takeaways is that iPadOS 17 support has been added, which is important given how the palera1n team was recently successful in jailbreaking a checkm8 iPad running iPadOS 17.

The other change, being able to opt in to Canister analytics, simply means that you can share some anonymous data with the Sileo Team to help improve the product long-term. This is completely optional, and you will be prompted at launch after updating to Sileo version 2.5 to make your decision then and there.

Sileo is the preferred package manager app on both the Dopamine and palera1n jailbreaks, closely followed by Zebra, the alternative. If you’re an existing Sileo user, then you can open the app and refresh your sources to view and install the latest update.

Even if you aren’t using Dopamine or palera1n, you can still update to the latest version of Sileo or install the Sileo package manager app on your jailbreak. It’s available from the following repository:
