Add a splash of color and other custom aesthetics to the Messages app with Abstract

So you’ve just jailbroken your iPhone or iPad with the new Dopamine jailbreak for A12-A15 devices running iOS or iPadOS 15.0-15.4.1, and now you’re wondering what you can do to customize the look and feel of your Messagesapp. Well, we might have a solution for you.

Abstract messages app customization tweak.

Abstract is a new jailbreak tweak by iOS developer SouthernGirlWhoCode that provides users with the ability to colorize the Messages app any way they like, as shown in the screenshot example above.

Among the different ways that you can colorize the Messages app with the Abstract jailbreak tweak are:

  • Setting a wallpaper for the conversation list
  • Setting a wallpaper for individual chats
  • Using blur effects for the wallpapers mentioned above
  • Colorize chat bubbles
  • Colorize buttons in the Messages app
  • Colorize text in the Messages app
  • Colorize text inside of message bubbles
  • And more…

These colorization options are available for you whether you’re using SMS or iMessage on your device.

Obviously, you’re going to find all the colorization options in a dedicated preference pane in the Settings app post-installation. Users are going to be able to harness these settings to achieve an aesthetic that matches their tastes, or perhaps even a unique theme that they might have going on their device.

Abstract was specifically made for iOS & iPadOS 15 devices and for the rootless Dopamine jailbreak. With that in mind, it hasn’t been tested on other rootless jailbreaks, such as palera1n (even on iOS or iPadOS 15). That said, use with caution if you’re not using Dopamine.

Anyone who would like to give Abstract a try can purchase it from the developer’s Gumroad page for $2.50. Upon acquiring the .deb file, you will be able to install it manually either with a package manager or a file manager app.
