FolderX brings advanced folder customization to jailbroken iOS 15 & 16 devices

If you’re into customizing folders on your jailbroken iPhone or iPad, then you might be interested in a newly released and free jailbreak tweak called FolderX by iOS developer Lizynz.

FolderX custom folders.

In an announcement post shared to /r/jailbreak on Monday, Lizynz said that FolderX was a continuation of their popular FullFolder jailbreak tweak from the 2015-2019 era. They also mentioned how FolderX was both rootful and rootless supported on both the palera1n and Fugu15 Max jailbreaks on all firmware versions from iOS & iPadOS 15.x to 16.x.

With FolderX, you can do a lot of different things to make your folders different from stock, as shown above. Just some of the things you can do to customize them are: customize the title, customize the layout grid, customize gestures, enable quick access to settings, enjoy an app counter, and color and stylize folders to your liking.

Once installed, you can swipe up while inside of any folder to summon options that you can configure to your liking:

Among the things you can do here are:

  • Make the title bold
  • Align the title however you want
  • Adjust the size of the title
  • Enable iOS 9 style folders
  • Colorize the folder
  • Enable the Milk setting
  • Choose between various different grid layouts
  • Customize the folder corner radius
  • Enable the app counter
  • Hide folder animations
  • Hide folder labels
  • Enable automatic folder closing
  • Enable tap to close folders
  • Enable dragging multiple folders in editing mode
  • Enable dragging multiple widgets in editing mode
  • Respring your device to save any changes you’ve made

Digging deeper into some of the colorization and style settings, you will find the following options:

Here, you can:

  • Colorize the title
  • Colorize the Home Screen icon
  • Colorize the folder background
  • Choose colors based on a spectrum, grid, or sliders
  • Change the opacity
  • And more…

All these fun settings can give your jailbroken handset an interesting new folder aesthetic that looks completely different from any stock device. Of course, the sky’s the limit when it comes to dialing your settings in, so you can really get creative with all the different options.
