Have you ever been listening to a track in the Apple Music app and wanted to save the album artwork as a picture to your Photo Library?
While you could have just taken a screenshot and cropped in, this likely wouldn’t have resulted in the best image or quality. Enter a new and free jailbreak tweak called MusicArtworkSave by iOS developer ETHN, an add-on that lets you have your cake and eat it too.
As you can see in the screenshot examples above, MusicArtworkSave adds a new save image button to the top right of the Apple Music app that, when tapped, saves the image to your Photo Library. A small confirmation glyph appears in place of the save image button when the save completes.
Important to note here is that the tweak is only intended for the stock Music app, so you won’t be able to use this tweak to save album artwork in other music apps. Try to keep this in mind if you use Spotify or something other than Apple Music for listening.
As you can probably tell from the middle example, the image gets saved directly to your Photo Library as a JPEG image. This lets you save, share, or whatever you plan to do with the album artwork once you’ve got the physical file in your possession.
MusicArtworkSave is available in two forms — regular and rootless. As you might come to expect, the regular version is intended for most ordinary jailbreaks while the rootless version is intended for rootless jailbreaks. There are no options to configure for either of them; just install, use, and enjoy.
Both tweaks are available on ETHN’s personal repository and support jailbroken iOS 13, 14, 15, and 16 devices. The tweak is also open source on the developer’s GitHub page.
