Ugreen is a consumer electronics brand from China that designs and makes quality USB-C accessories like chargers, hubs and more. On October 27, 2022, the company unveiled its latest lineup addition: a 12-in-1 Nexode USB-C docking station. Yup, this thing adds 12 ports to your laptop over a single USB-C connection.

With two HDMI video connections and a single DisplayPort one, this docking station supports up to three external displays: Two with 4K output at 60Hz and one that outputs 8K at 30 Hz on Windows or 4K at 60 Hz on macOS. All three video ports support mirroring across three external displays.

Aside from several flavors of USB-C ports for data transfer, this accessory provides a handy Ethernet port which you can use to connect your notebook to a router over a more reliable, much faster wired connection.

The accessory provides 100 watts of power to the host device and looks great on your desk with its aluminum cylindrical design. All the ports are on the back except for two USB ports, two memory card slots and a single headphone jack — all of which are conveniently located on the front for quick access.

These are all the additional ports that your M1 or M2 Apple silicon notebook or Windows laptop will be getting by connecting to the Nexode over USB-C:

  • 1x HDMI (4K at 60Hz)
  • 1x HDMI (8K at 30 Hz)
  • 1x DisplayPort (4K at 60 Hz)
  • 1x 100W USB-C Power Delivery 3.0 (passthrough)
  • 1x USB-C (host computer)
  • 2x USB A 3.0 (5 Gbps)
  • 1x USB A 3.1 (10 Gbps)
  • 1x USB-C 3.1 (10Gbps)
  • 1x Gigabit Ethernet (1000 Mbps)
  • 1x SD card (104 MB/s)
  • 1x Micro SD card (104 MB/s)
  • 1x 3.5 mm headphone jack

You need two cables. One goes from your charger into the docking station’s USB-C charge port, feeding juice to the connected devices and providing up to 100 watts of passthrough power to your laptop. The other cable connects your computer to the docking station. Ugreen’s 12-in-1 docking station is compatible with macOS (including Apple silicon computers) and Windows. Linux is unsupported at this time.

This is a plug-and-play accessory though some features may require additional software. For example, Ugreen advises using Sunaptics’ DisplayLink software to ensure media display functionality and network port compatibility.
