Google boosts trade-in values for iPhone owners looking to switch to the new Pixel 7

Google’s iPhone trade-in offer makes the 128GB/256GB Pixel 7 ($599/$699) free provided you trade in your 1TB iPhone 13 Pro Max, originally priced at $1599.

Update: Nearly a week after this article was published, Google boosted trade-in values even more to better attract iPhone switchers. So, for example, instead of offering just $750 in credit for your traded one-terabyte iPhone 13 Pro Max, you can now get up to $1,055 in trade-in value towards the purchase of Pixel 7 or Pixel 7 Pro.

Google deal: Get Pixel 7 for free by trading in your iPhone

Google yesterday announced the Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro, its latest made-by-Google smartphones that provide a stock Android experience. To entice switchers, the company is offering up to $750 off any Pixel 7 with a qualifying trade-in.

To get $750 in Google Store credit, you must trade in a one-terabyte iPhone 13 Pro Max. This was the flagship model in Apple’s 2021 lineup, priced at $1599.

Google will credit your account with $750 provided the iPhone being traded in is in good condition, meaning it turns on and works as it should, shows no scuffs or dings on the enclosure, the screen isn’t damaged and so on. Read: How to find the estimated value of your device with Apple GiveBack

The 256-megabyte Pixel 7 costs $699 so you could get this phone for free if you’re willing to trade-in your 1TB iPhone 13 Pro Max. Or, you could pay an additional $150 to get a Pixel 7 Pro instead, priced starting at $899.

“Phone trade-in credit will be issued as a refund back on the credit card used for the phone purchase at Google Store or in the form of store credit if the purchased phone has already been returned,” Google explains.

The offer ends on October 22, 2022, at 11:59pm PT.

Should you consider Google’s offer?

It doesn’t seem like Google is taking advantage of Apple customers because Apple’s trade-in terms are among the worst in the industry. As an example, the Apple trade-in service will credit your account with up to $720 in exchange for your 1TB iPhone 13 Pro‌ Max when you’re purchasing one of the new iPhone 14 models.

As MacRumors points out, Google offers $695 for a 512-gigabyte model of the iPhone 13 Pro Max. The 128GB/256GB version could be worth up to $595/$645 if traded in when shopping the latest Pixel 7 series.

$200 in Google Store credit

Google is also offering $100 in Google Store credit to apply to your next purchase when buying a new Pixel phone. Your Google Pay profile must be registered to the country where you bought your Pixel for your Google Store credit to be issued.

Your store credit expires on October 12, 2023, at 11:59pm PT.
