The new iPhone SE features 4GB of RAM for a smoother multitasking experience

At four gigabytes, the increased RAM in Apple’s third-generation iPhone SE brings perks such as smoother multitasking and faster app performance.

How much RAM does the third-generation iPhone SE have?

Based on code strings unearthed from Apple’s Xcode by developer Moritz Sternemann, MacRumors has been able to confirm that the third-generation iPhone SE is indeed equipped with four gigabytes of memory instead of three gigabytes in the previous, second-generation iPhone SE.

Joe Rossignol, MacRumors:

The same type of Xcode strings have accurately revealed the amount of RAM in several generations of iPhones and iPads. For example, the strings revealed that the sixth-generation iPad mini also has an increased 4GB of RAM.

The RAM expansion was also corroborated by a Geekbench score confirming that the new iPhone SE is on par with the iPhone 13 in terms of CPU performance.

Our take: iPhone SE 3 will offer at least 5 years of updates

More RAM is also great for future-proofing although the CPU is even more important in that regard. And with the latest A15 Bionic chip and increased RAM, you’re going to get at least five years of iOS updates from a $429 phone.

Aside from Apple’s latest A15 Bionic chip and 5G cellular networking (sans support for the mmWave band), the third-generation iPhone SE features computational photography improvements stemming from the new chip, as well as longer battery life and more durable glass protection on both the front and the back.
