Rooney Mara set to play Audrey Hepburn in new biopic for Apple TV+ from director Luca Guadagnino

Audrey Hepburn is one of the most iconic actresses to ever do it. Her roles in films like Breakfast at Tiffany’s and My Fair Lady are iconic, to say the least. And now the star will get a brand new biopic all about her, which will make its debut on Apple TV+ at some point in the future.

When it comes to biopics, casting is important. But the strategy behind it is always interesting. Some directors and casting efforts simply focus on big names for the lead roles. Others, though, look for a big name that also looks like the person. Some believe getting both, and then also sounding like the person, or getting their specific mannerisms down, is important.

Whatever the case, the end result is always what really matters. So, it will be interesting to see how a biopic about Audrey Hepburn, and starring Rooney Mara (The Girl Wit the Dragon Tattoo), turns out. Of course, Mara has earned a couple of different Academy Awards, and she certainly doesn’t have to prove herself by any means.

According to Variety, the new feature is heading to Apple TV+, however the story the biopic is going to tell remains under wraps at this point. The biopic will be directed by Luca Guadagnino (Call Me By Your Name), written by Michael Mitnick (The Giver). Mara will be serving as a producer on the project.

From the original report, there are definitely a variety of different points in Hepburn’s life to touch on in a biopic:

During her four-decade career, Hepburn achieved EGOT status, winning Emmy, Oscar, Tony and Grammy awards, the last of which she received posthumously. She was also a dedicated humanitarian, working with UNICEF to help children in Africa, South America and Asia and receiving the Presidential Medal of Freedom in 1992.

No word on when the new biopic will see the light of day. But, hopefully, it starts streaming before the end of this year.
